There is a huge impact of social inequality on the life expectancy of people in United Kingdom. People living in the urban areas of Brita
in have more life expectancy than the people of rural areas. The reason of the less life expectancy of people in the rural areas is poverty. Most of the people of the rural areas are very poor. Poverty can affect the mental and physical health of people. Therefore, the mental and physical health of people in the rural areas of United Kingdom are massively affected by poverty. Therefore, their life expectancy is reducing rapidly for their social inequality such as poverty. Income is very essential for obtaining a healthy diet. People, who have an inadequate income, generally suffer from food poverty. People, who have low income, eat less protein, fruits and vegetables. They generally eat fewer nutrient foods as these foods are inexpensive. Nutrient food such as fish, vegetables, fruits and meat are not affordable for them. People having low income have a tendency to eat processed foods, which are consisted of saturated fats, salts, preservatives and added sugars. These processed foods are very harmful for health.
The muscular system, immunity system and psycho-social functions can be adversely affected by consuming the processed foods. Therefore, the tendency of consuming processed foods reduces the life expectancy of people having low income. More than 50% of people have died because of coronary heart disease caused by food poverty (British Medical Association, 2017). Food poverty has enhanced the rate of fractures in older people.
