Discussion Question Lesson 2

Respond to your peers with meaningful responses

My leadership style is more of a Transformational style. I enjoy working with others and creating new things, and I try to inspire others and motivate others because I am a very motivated person. If I see something want I will most likely go after it and work hard to achieve my goals. Decision making can be easy depending one hat decision I am making. I know what is right and wrong when it comes to certain things and it is easy for me to make the right decision. I try to encourage others to reach for their goals and not give up. Some things take time and you just have to be patient. When I was a gymnastics coach and I would teach the kids new tricks, some kids were not as flexible as others and they would get mad and irritated that they could not do it but it takes time to master new skills and achieve those goals. So once those kids worked hard and practiced they finally were able to do it and they totally earned a reward for how hard they worked to get there. Theres many things we have to work towards and get better at, but it just takes time.

Examine your leadership style. Which behaviors are you most likely to demonstrate? Which decision-making style are you more likely to use? Why?

My leadership style incorporates a few of the examples listed in our reading material. I demonstrate the Emotional Stability needed in stressful situations. The Dominance leadership to be decisive and quickly figure out answers to problems that may arise. I am self assured and move on from mistakes and learn from them. Enthusiasm is another trait I hold. Energetic and open for change are a must for leaders. To pinpoint just one trait as a leader would be almost impossible to do. You have to be many things as a leader.

The Democratic approach to decision making is used the most by myself and fellow co-workers/leads. At my job there are 12 employees two with Lead responsibilities. We have a 30 minute meeting in the morning to discuss the days tasks and will take feedback from the others and take into consideration their points of view. I feel when you involve the input of the employees they will be willing to work their best. It gives them a sense that they are an important equation in the day to day process of getting tasks accomplished.

In response to your post about your persisting more of a transformational style, I would like to share my thoughts on the same. I too feel that I have the leadership style that is very much like transformational style. I do like exploring new places and environment consisting of new people and things but not much interested in creating new stuff. Inspiring and motivating others is what I genuinely do without releasing and that keeps me motivated to do more in life for myself as well as for others. During...
