Discussion Question Lesson 6 with students
After taking both of the tests my results both came out to be 60-75 which showed I prefer the y-theory. I like to consider myself a very hard worker and when I know what is going on with the business it makes me feel better about my job. I enjoy being in the loop and do not enjoy when things change and I do not know. I am open to learning new things if needed and having meetings with my boss regularly helps me improve. Being friendly to my co-workers is important cause I treat them how would want to be treated.
Responsibility is very important when working for a company. I like when I am given credit for doing hard work but I do not ask for it. I know my company target and how they are preforming. If my boss does not personally tell me what is going on with the business my other co-workers will. I prefer the y-theory because it fits me better than the x-theory and everyone will be different.

Score=65 strongly prefers Y-theory management
Looks like I enjoy a theory y type of manager. I am a theory y typer of worker. I think this test is accurate and pairs leaders and workers well. Some types of people work best with specific types of leaders. I once worked for a restaurant group that used the Myers Briggs personality test to determine which managers to pair up at each location. I wonder if this test could also be used in a situation like that?
One thing I found interesting is that I don't enjoy regular meetings with my boss to discuss how I can improve and develop. My boss typically does not have regular meetings with me to discuss my development. I am self motivated and usually come to him and ask to be moved into a position or added to a training event. I prefer it that way so there is no awkwardness of being pushed in to something I don't want to do. I do recognize that sometimes you need a leader to motivate you to be your best self. At the age of 43 I am pretty good motivating my self. Some younger and less established needs a lot of encouragement and guidance to reach their maximum potential.
