1. Introduction of the Issue
The relation between violence and mental health is complex. This relationship is perceived under various conditions. Consumption of substance, exposure to social disorders, economic factors are some of the reasons why violence can be determined but people suffering from mental illness are more often identified as victims than who are considered as perpetrators of violence (Alhajji, Bass & Dai, 2019). The other consequences are anxiety, depression, suicide, increased risk of heart problems and stress disorders.
Mental health is also responsible for violent behavior. Schizophrenia is a psychotic illness, which is related to aggressive behavior. Not only physical violence is affecting the mental health. Violence created at digital platforms such as stalking social media, cropping pics and misusing it, cyber-attacks, hacking also cause stress, which relates to mental health. Security on cyber space is also responsible for mental disorders in Gen Z.
Mental illness can be caused due to unemployment, abusive childhood or crime inspired neighborhood and can cause violent behavior and vice-versa. There is no doubt that people in the society have various misconceptions about mental illness and they have biased reaction towards them. The research in the area also supports that people suffering from mental illness are threat to society (Coulter et al., 2019).
There are different opinions that people suffering from mental illness pose a little threat as a whole to the society and its impact on violent behavior is not that great. In this light of positivism, it is required to understand the relationship and change the attitude of the people towards it.
1a. Clear Statement of the Problem
The mental illness is always related to the violence with a perception that it makes the person aggressive and leads to criminal activities. There are other reasons for mental illness and being violent is a small percentage of it. Mental illness is health issue, which affects a persona choices, beliefs and attitudes thus affecting the life as a whole. The preconceived notions are even barriers for societal behavior towards patients and hinder the effectiveness of the treatments.
It does not allow the society to accept them and create a difference with them due to this existing knowledge gap. The available research work is also considerate with few types of violence not relating other factors such as circumstance and purpose for violence as a measure to combat the adverse situation. Therefore, the problem of mental illness should be understood as a subject with violence can be as one of its consequence.
1b. Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study is to understand the clear relationship between violence and mental health. Violence is one of the factor, which gives birth to mental disorders and due to mental illness patient become violent. The studies available on the topic shows mixed opinions. The societal bias gives rise to the stigma in the society.
This encourages patient to hide their condition and remain at backseat while seeking treatment. This perception is further ignited by media, which serves the public with the news of violent crimes done by people suffering from mental illness. The general perception in public regarding the association between violence and mental illness has fuelled debates between opposite parties.
It is required to develop an intricate relationship, which will further prove to be helpful in guiding clinical practice, policies for mental health and public opinions so that patients suffering from the same get respect and required treatment with surroundings being sensitive to their conditions.
1c. Significance of the Study
The study will help in identifying the predictors of violent behavior and comparing them with the symptoms of mental illness. It will help to understand the risk involved such as contextual, historical, clinical or dispositional. The study will include the literature, which focuses on modest relationship between two and not including substance intake in it. As the wide variety of risk assessment tools are available with experts and researchers it can be often easy to predict the intensity of violent behavior of people with mental illness.
The aggressive side of behavior is linked with consumption of drugs, alcohol, manias, seizure disorder or any kind of personality disorder such as split personality. The literature review will get direction in terms of selection of the sources and narrowing down the research to the focused area. It will contribute in using data strategically for the analysis and reach to the conclusion.

2a. Current Literature and Studies Related to My Issue/Problem
According to Curtis et al. (2021), in the US, the differences between Blacks and White were responsible for many from suffering with mental disorders. Not even population but also the political leaders faced the discrimination and witnessed violence. Due to the issue majority of Black population suffers from some or the other mental health condition.
Moreover, the unavailability of fair employment chances, violence of police towards black, discrimination in schools, universities and other areas of importance puts pressure (Curtis et al., 2021). It has created an environment of hatred and indulgence towards drugs and substance intake. Sometime, they tend to opt for violent way to release their anger and frustration. They do not get fair treatment and thus excluded from the society also adopting anti-social elements as a part of their personality.
It is not deniable that violence created by police has disturbed different compositions in the society. The public of the US is observing it as a major factor affecting the mental health of the people at large. As believed by DeVylder, Fedina and Link (2020), there are an accumulated evidence, which clearly shows the way violence is affecting mental health. The mental trauma takes years to release the fear from mind, which an individual faces by being involved in false charges and then questioned by the police.
The prevalent corruption, power of politics, support to goons and other similar activities make them use their power in unacceptable manner. This sometimes even creates outrage against them and leads to disturbances in society (DeVylder et al., 2020). Children are also prone to mental health issues at large. As indicated by Duru and Balkis (2018), they can be exposed to violence at any place, be at home, school or at public. It creates stress in them and leads to changed or unacceptable behavior.
It also causes psychological and physiological damage in them. The violence can lead to stress disorder, anxiety, sleep disorders, substance use, eating disorders and personality disorders in them. The violence at school level can cause visible and non-visible injuries and results in changes in health behaviors and attitudes. Children witnessing violence in school or victimized by it have symptoms of...
