Download the QuickTime Player
In this project, you will download a video player program from the Internet. You will need access to a computer that is connected to the Internet. If the computer you are using already has the QuickTime player loaded on it, download another video player such as RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.
1. Log on to the Internet and go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download.
2. Select the operating system the computer is using and register your name if you wish. If not, click off the news group subscription, and click Download. The QuickTime fi le downloads automatically.
3. When the security warning displays, click Yes and proceed with the download of the installer program.
4. When the installer program has downloaded, it launches the download for QuickTime. Follow the screen instructions to start the download of the program, which is about 5MB in size.
5. After the program has downloaded, it installs automatically. Select the default choices at the various screen prompts unless you have specific reasons for changing them.
6. When the program completes installation, close the installer. Return to the Internet and check the installation page to be sure the program installed correctly. If any problems are noted, select the appropriate prompts to correct them.
7. You can test your download by playing one or more of the movie trailers listed on this site. Compare the time it takes to download and play a trailer at low resolution and high resolution.
