Introduction
This reflective essay focuses on personal and professional growth and development. Throughout the module, several concepts and aspects are taken into consideration which enhanced my growth at both the personal and professional levels. Gaining insight about self-awareness and emotional intelligence were the much-needed stances that contributed to the overall development. The reflection is based on Kolb’s reflective cycle which helped i
n stabilizing through a step-by-step process. The four crucial steps indulged in Kolb’s reflective cycle include experience, reflection, conceptualization, and experimentation. It initiates by focusing on the experience that includes sensing and feeling than moving on to reflection that focuses on watching and reflecting, a conceptualization that focuses on thinking, and at last, the active experimentation that focuses on doing the behaving. These entire collectively compose Kolb’s reflective cycle. In this essay, Kolb’s reflective cycle is used to provide a detailed and obsolete analysis of the overall learning. Practicality is exaggerated based on the theories that were learned throughout the module. The reflection based on the learning module provides wide information about the changes initiated within me after gaining all the possible insight from the studies.
Summary Overview
Throughout the module, I learned several things that shaped me as an efficient person both on personal and professional grounds. The learning from the modules enhanced my relationship with myself as well as my relationship with others. I explored how it is important to be self-aware regarding several things in life, how emotional intelligence works, and how it is important to handle it efficiently. The development objectives throughout the course are also considered to reflect seamlessly on every aspect of the development garnered through the learnings. The learning accumulated sequentially aligned my knowledge and understanding.
Moving ahead to the very first thing I learned through the module is personal development. Personal development which is considered as a lifelong process is a way through which people analyze their set of skills and qualities consider their motive in life and then set goals accordingly to realize and maximize their strength and potential. Personal development is analyzed in several categories including the mental, social, spiritual, emotional, and physical. To ensure the personal development meeting all these categories are necessary. Through the learning, I gain a perspective on how personal development is gained and embraced for a brighter picture.
With personal development, professional development is also equally necessary. Professional development refers to the continuous training and education of an individual in the relevant fields of their carrier. For me, professional development was to be updated with all the current trends that were existing and prevailing within my professional region. The development of new skills relevant to the advancement in particular fields is also one of the prime aspects of professional development. The personal and professional development were together important for me to gain the expertise for which I was looking for on both the personal and professional fronts. Emotional intelligence was also one of the most important parts covered by me during the learning module and I got a much broader concept of emotional intelligence and its implications (Borg et al., 2018).
On the personal and professional fronts, the most encountered thing by an individual in conflict. It is something which arises due to the negative misconception or miscommunication by any of the relevant party. For me learning conflict management in the course was something that was most needed as not everyone is capable of handling conflicts effectively. Among the different types of conflicts including the personal, interpersonal, intergroup, inter-organizational, and international the conflict management was very important. Through the learning modules, I got to know that conflict management has different types, and it's up to the people which approach they adopt to solve the conflict in the meanwhile. I got a wider overview regarding all the possibilities the people reflect and use during solving the conflicts and I also become a bit clear about which approach would be the best suited for me in case if I got indulged in any kind of conflict in the future (Bates & Morgan, 2018).
The next thing which was perceived by me throughout my learning from the modules is the six-category intervention analysis, interpersonal skills training. The intervention analysis helps in understanding interpersonal relationships. It helped me in gaining knowledge regarding how good interpersonal relationships can be initiated within the client and enabler through the six intervention analyses. The several classes and models related to the intervention and non-intervention analysis gave a detailed overview regarding developing a good connection with the client it helps in formulating a good communicative relationship with the client so that the things between the enabler and the client could easily be carried on (Nida-Rümelin et al., 2017).
Relationship with Myself
Throughout the study I learned several things about myself the attributes I lack and the basic attributes I require to enhance my skills. Before getting aware of the concepts I was not much focused on my self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and several other aspects. After gaining the insights from studies I become much more prevalent towards how I could portray myself better by applying some of the learned attributes. I learned that I could be much efficient and effective with my decisions if I classify and analyze them properly. I got to know how I could bring the possible change in my life by applying some of the learning modules.
Being a person who did not have much idea regarding how emotional intelligence and self-awareness could be a key factor in the success of...
