Introduction
In different parts of the unites states, violations in the educational institutions have been a regular phenomenon. From safety of the students to bullying, racism, communal violence to stabbing and sho
oting, the educational environment has been suffered a great deal. The following report will reflect on the role of the educational leader to assess their role in this situation, where educating the students and teaching them morality are quite necessary for leading a social life. The repot will analyse the bullying in school premises among the weaker students and how it has made an impact on the school environment. The legal aspects on the student safety issue will also be analysed.
Description on bullying in school
Bullying in school premises have been a regular incident in educational institutions of united states and it has created serious physical and mental troubles for many students. Bullying refers to aggressive behaviours, forceful attitude towards the physically weaker students, imbalance of power, oppressive attitude of one section towards the others. The act of bullying often causes criminal case such physical and mental harassment, assault etc. there has been a lot of research on bullying in school premises as well as cyberbullying. Every school has one section of its students who violently oppresses over the other section of the school. Most of the victims are weaker in category. The school bullying has grown from a casual act to a criminal, when it comes in terms with serious acts of violation (Limber, et al., 2018). There have been many cases in school bullying, where the victim had to admitted to the hospital due to beating and physical assaulting. Cyberbullying is comparatively new phenomenon where a group of bullies target a member of the school in social spaces. Constant assault on the victim, violation of privacy and passing shameful comment on both social media and inside the school premises have been the consequences of it (Foody, et al., 2018). One of such incidents calls upon spreading rumours of a student regarding its body structure, that have been quite intense in terms of the security of the victim. In case of cyberbullying, most of the students participate in the act that affect deeply on the victim (Gilbert, et al., 2018). These cases can often lead to suicide. Another such case of school bullying is beating and humiliating a female student, who was beaten, sat at, mocked and locked into the school locker for not fitting into the female stereotype. The victim possessed short hair, had deep voice and manly attitude that triggered her bullies to berate her in the school premises. In both these cases, the educational institutions need to take proper measurement to prevent such cases from happening. The role of the educational leaders, in order to apply the law related to students’ safety, can help in bringing a permanent solution to bullying.
Analysation of anti-bullying laws
Among the 50 states of united states, all the states have imposed anti-bullying and cyberbullying laws that can prevent the children from getting harassed online of in the school premises. Apart from the state laws, there are federal laws to protect the students from bullying. The act that prevents the children with special abilities to be safe in the school premises is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It provides right to the children for receiving public education, similar to the rest of the other children of the country.
