See Module 9a on “Enterprise Asset Management”. Predictive maintenance techniques allow to determine the condition of equipment in order to estimate when maintenance of the equipment is required. There are two questions: MeltChoc (MC) is a boutique chocolate manufacturer based in South Australia. MC produces chocolate for a specialised clientele – mostly 5 star hotels across Australia. They also have a shop-front selling chocolate to the general public, but their majority of sales come from the big hotels. Order fulfillment process of MeltChoc: CloudCity is a newly established 5-star hotel and is using the services of MC to replenish its chocolate stock. Initially, the purchasing officer of CloudCity would contact the MC’s S&M Manager Smith and order an amount of 5000 chocolate bars. Upon receiving the order, Smith needs to analyse the order and checks if it is complete. If it is incomplete, then it is rejected. If it is complete, then Smith passes the order to the warehouse manager Hunter who checks if there is enough stock available. If insufficient products are available in the warehouse, Hunter will inform the production facility to send new products to the warehouse. Once enough products are available in the warehouse, Hunter will organise the shipment of the products. Once the products are shipped, the accounting department is informed which sends an invoice to the client. When the production facility receives a notification from the warehouse it will purchase ingredients for the chocolate factory and plans the production at the same time. When both activities are finished, it will produce the chocolate bars and sends them to the warehouse. Answer the following two questions based on the description above. A.
