ERP Hands-On Assignment Instructions • No late submission will be accepted. • A likely sanction of an academic dishonesty conduct is an F for the course, not just for the assignment (You may receive additional sanction from FGCU). Software Requirements – READ THIS!!! o If you are using your own Windows PC, NOT virtual lab, you MUST install SAP Front End on a Windows PC. o SAP Front End for Windows is available in the “Exercise # 2: ERP Hands-On Exercise” in the Module 12 in Canvas for the installation. Once you installed it, you can complete this HW from your home. Very Important note: You CAN access SAP from your PC via the FGCU public wireless network (fgcu-campus). Do NOT use the “eduroam” wireless network to access SAP from your PC. Also, you can NOT access SAP from the Library computers unless you access to Virtual Lab 2 General w/ SAP or Lab 5 from there. o If (1) you CANNOT install SAP Front End on your Windows PC, or (2) you have a Mac, SAP Front End on Windows is available at Virtual Lab 2 General w/ SAP and Lab 5 (CIS Lab). Note: You have already learned how to use FGCU virtual lab and how to start SAP Front End by completing FGCU Virtual Lab Exercise during Module 11. o Follow the instructions of “FGCU Virtual Lab Exercise” in Module 11. o Very Important Note regarding FGCU virtual lab: After exiting from FGCU virtual lab, you will lose all of the files you saved on that virtual machine. You must email the files to yourself or submit the files to the drop-box in Canvas before exiting virtual lab.  Do NOT install SAP Front End in the virtual lab. You should find it on Desktop of Lab 2 or Lab 5.  No need to use the virtual lab if you use a PC in LH2210 or you have already installed SAP Front End on your Windows PC and access the Internet from home. o Very Important Note: All data you save in SAP at the end of the major step will be saved on the SAP’s server. Once they are saved, you will NOT lose them when exiting from SAP Front End or Virtual Lab. Purposes of Access Assignment o Learn how ERP like SAP integrates all the functions of a business organization. o Learn how ERP like SAP uses a centralized database to share data across the departments within a business organization. o Practice to rapidly adapt to new technologies (unfamiliar technology): more specifically get familiar with SAP, a world-famous ERP system (locally used by Chico’s and Arthrex. See the customer testimonials at SAP to learn about SAP users.) o Practice to rapidly adapt to new technologies (unfamiliar technology): Learn how to install software to access an SAP (if you install SAP Front End). o Demonstrate your understanding of benefits of ERP. At the end of the assignment, you are required to write this. While you read and follow the instructions, try to understand benefits of ERP like SAP.
