When opening Microsoft Internet Explorer or the run Window I receive an unexpected exception error with the wbhook32.dll file.


Users who are using new P2P sharing programs such asKaZaA that include their own virus protection program and are also running McAfee virus protection program may encounter this error.


If you have installed Kazaa or eDonkey on your computer, you can verify this is the cause of your issue by opening the Windows Task Manager and end tasking Kazaa from theProcesses.


To resolve this issue, it is recommended users disable their Mcafee "download scan" feature. Note: If you need to determine your version of Mcafee, right-click the V shield icon in thesystray and click about.



Mcafee 5.x users:



  1. right-click the V shield icon in the systray.

  2. Under "Quick Enable" select "Download Scan" to disable and enable the feature.



Mcafee 6.x and users:



  1. right-click the V shield icon in the systray and click
    Run.

  2. Click the
    Pick a Task
    button in the bottom left of the window.

    Change my VirusScan Settings.

  4. Click the link for
    Configure Vshield background Settings.

  5. Uncheck Download Scan and apply the changes.



Mcafee 7.x users:


Mcafee 7 users should not be experiencing this issue.
