You need to do a social research project on patients with a Chronic Illness. You have to decide

a. which is the illness you wish to address (it is entirely up to you)

b. what is the purpose of the study and what is your hypothesis

c. literature background on the illness: brief description of the illness and how is the patient’s life affected, as described in the literature

d. which research technique you wish to follow - quantitative or qualitative and what methodological tool you wish to use (e.g. closed questionnaire, or interview etc.) You need to explain why you decided that this is the best technique and tool

e. you need to write down the questions you will use and explain the purpose of asking this question

f. you will then have to use and describe the rest of the 7 steps of conducting a research and how you intend to use them.

g. Conclusion: Are these patients allowed to be attributed the role of the sick? Why? How could these research findings be useful to health professionals?

Use of sources:

· You can use any valid scientific source you wish (books, journals, internet). You cannot use “lay” websites, such as Wikipedia.

· You need to include your sources in your text, as well as in a reference list at the end of the essay.
