Event Concept & Design Report
The concept for the ninth International Chinese Film Festival is to be held in February 2018. The event at Westin Hotel has to consider the arrangement of the guests with the accommodation for close to 900 guests as part of
the event. The consideration basis the concept encompasses the various design elements. The event dates are from the 23rd to the 27th of Feb 2018 (ICFF, 2016). It is considered to be the largest Chinese cultural event that does happen every year in Sydney. The films from Hong Kong, Mainland China are screened in Australia (ICFF, 2016).
The event would need to primarily focus on the theme that would be for the entire night as part of the festival. The black tie dress code is part of the theme. The event dress code would be the business wear for the guests - men and women. The black shoes along with the white shirt and the waist code would be the accepted code basis the theme. For women, the same would be relevant in the dress they wear for the event.
The decor would utilize the creative vision with the excessive inventory brought in place which would include the curtain design, color and the beaded backdrops to be part of the event. As the theme pertains to black tie, it has to be well synchronized with the color of mirror curtains and the metal curtains (Sobchack, V., 2014; Hassan, A. S., Arab, Y., & Ismail, M., 2015; Sharbaf, A., Sharbaf, M., & Sharbaf, G., 2016). The dark shades of the same would be essential and the uniqueness of the inventory would be the event designing taking place in a manner that it well incorporates the red carpet entrance that needs to be set for the heritage ballroom. The grand ballroom with the customized bendable metal rods and the curved look on the wall would add to the show (Sobchack, V., 2014; Hassan, A. S., Arab, Y., & Ismail, M., 2015; Sharbaf, A., Sharbaf, M., & Sharbaf, G., 2016).
The set dressing has to be the USP for the event. As the theme is related to black tie, the choice of the equipment’s and the décor for the set has to offer unique composition. The steps for the stage have to be carpeted and the set has to offer the features of greater flexibility for the multiple parts of the event in place(Kusumowidagdo, A., Sachari, A., & Widodo, P., 2016; Hassan, A. S., Arab, Y., & Ismail, M., 2015; Mori, K., & Minomo, K., 2017). (Kusumowidagdo, A., Sachari, A., & Widodo, P., 2016; Hassan, A. S., Arab, Y., & Ismail, M., 2015; Mori, K., & Minomo, K., 2017). The set design needs to be customized with the inclusion of...
