Whether you are analyzing data as part of your analytic strategy or completing a term research paper, data is an essential component of the analytical process. Numerous data exist in the form of secondary data, or data that has already been gathered by someone else. There are several types of secondary data like clinical, administrative, and government data. The data that you need, as a researcher, depends on the research question, your budget, your skills, and available resources.

To Do

1. First, list a current research/information need that you have – internship, class project, or idea.

2. Second, find a secondary dataset to fit that need. You will provide a linkorupload a file of that dataset.

3. Lastly, briefly describe what specific information (variables) in the dataset that is relevant for your need.

For example, you select a dataset that focuses on diabetes and the information (variables) important to you include: sex, age, A1C, zip code, and chronic conditions. If the dataset you select is very large, place the information into groups (ex. demographics, chronic conditions, or clinical notes). You can provide your submission using the text entry option or uploading all of the documents as a file.
