Introduction
The project would involve the designing of an online management system for Tan House of Cuisines. As the restaurant requires a customized website, this would enhance the functional efficiency of the restaurant and increase its reach to a larger audience. At present, Tan House is using third-party platforms for online orders, which are neither effective nor beneficial as they incur certain fees and do not come under the restaurant's control. The objective of the project was to design a fully functional website that would allow the customer to view, order, and pay online directly, thereby enhancing service and increasing competitiveness and sustainability in the market (Larson & Gray, 2020).
The scope of this project was to produce a customized website that would enable customers to view the restaurant's menu easily, place orders, and make payments directly from the platform. The whole operation for Tan House of Cuisines would become streamlined, and it could be simple for customers, thus ensuring that there could be an increase in service efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the emphasis was on turning the restaurant not only more competitive in the market but also sustainable, encouraging it to attract new and retain existing customers (Banerjee & Sachdeva, 2019).
My roles in this project became multi-functional. First, I participated during the planning stage, and with the actual progress of the project, my contributions continued through participating in content creation, design, training, meeting facilitation, and resource gathering. In addition, I played a critical role in communication with the team and the client, and most challenges were addressed with time (Kerzner, 2019).
Project Overview
The structured approach of the project was through seven fundamental phases, namely Initiation, Planning, Analysis, Design, Construction and Development, Deployment, and Closure (Project Management Institute, 2021). These phases guaranteed all those aspects that flow within the demands obtained through any setting from gathering requirements, thus completing the final product. Also applying DIEP model here, the work involves designing a comprehensive website for a food service market segment that includes a menu, ordering, and payment services. In this way I am alsi describing the project which comprised of seven core stages: project initiation, project planning, project analysis, project design, project construction and implementation, project enlistment and project closure. I was able to work in many capacities that included helping plan processes, write content, create designs, facilitate meetings, gather resources and handle communications between the client and the team.
Team collaboration was essential in the Initiation phase. We assigned roles and responsibilities, developed the project charter, and initiated data collection. In the Planning phase, the team creates a project schedule, allocates resources, and develops communication and risk management plans. Analysis phases included cost-benefit analyses and competitor reviews for the successful completion of the project. In the Design phase, the team produced wireframes and mockups along with a database schema (Zwikael & Meredith, 2020).
The project is in the Deployment phase, where system and user acceptance testing (UAT) have been performed with complete success. We are on schedule to reach the final review of the project and closure is planned for October 21, 2024.
As of the update on October 16, 2024, everything is going very well with the project; now at the Deployment stage. All critical activities, such as system testing and UAT, are successfully finished according to the deadline set. The general status of the project has been classified as "on track"; all deliverables were correctly noted in WBS (Walker & Lloyd-Walker, 2019).
