Follow the author’s instructions to conduct the two-way ANOVA using the example in 14.5. In this analysis, we will examine whether people’s perceptions of attractiveness of their date for people consuming different amounts of alcohol differs depending on their gender (in this instance, attractiveness is your dependent variable, alcohol is your experimental condition, and gender is your other categorical predictor). In other words, test whether there is an interaction between gender and alcohol consumption that influences how attractive a person finds their date.

  • Run all analyses in Section 14.5 to test the 2x3 factorial ANOVA.

  • When you have your output, verify that the numbers you obtained are the same as those in the textbook.

  • Export your output to a Word file. In your output file, highlight the relevant statistics for interpreting this analysis andannotate your outputas you have been doing, and for each “NOTE”, write a few sentences explaining what the output shows and interpret the factorial ANOVA. If you need additional help annotating your output, read Section 14.6 of your textbook where the author explains the output of the analysis in detail.

Part 2: Reporting Factorial ANOVAs in APA Style

For the last part of this assignment, you will report on the analyses you conducted in Part 1. To assist with this assignment, I have provided an example of an APA style table for a factorial ANOVA in the documentExample APA Style 2x4 ANOVA.pdf. You may reference this as an example when completing this assignment. You should make a table for your main analysis and a table for the means by cell. There is also an example of reporting the results of a factorial ANOVA inSection 14.11of your textbook.

For this assignment:

  • Write a brief introduction and methods section. Your introduction should discuss the general linear model and the relationship between regression, ANOVA, and how they fit within the broader GLM framework.

  • You should then summarize what type of analysis (factorial ANOVA) you conducted in this assignment (describe the variables with their proper names, not the shortened names saved in the dataset).

  • Explain this as a moderation analysis (this is similar to what you ran in weeks 3 and 4). Be sure to state what the null hypothesis was and what hypotheses you were testing.

  • Then write a very brief participants and design section. The participants only need to be summarized using what you have in your book on this study. The design should summarize the 2x3 factorial design and what the conditions were.

  • Next, your report should include an APA style results section reporting the full factorial ANOVA, followed by a discussion section and the two APA style tables.

  • Describe the main effects and the interaction in detail in the results section. In the discussion section, you should summarize the results of the analysis in words (how would you explain what you tested and what the results were to a non-statistics person?).

Next, discuss the following:

  • What are the different factorial designs that exist? Describe each and come up with an example experiment for each one.

  • Discuss the similarities between a factorial ANOVA and the moderation analysis you learned in weeks 3 and 4.

  • Reflecting on the course, explain the concept of the General Linear Model for regression versus for ANOVA. What is the same and different about these techniques?

  • What have you learned in this course about statistics and advanced analyses?
