1. Introduction 
In the past two decade, the development and growth of the technology is changed the 
dynamic world of the business as organizations able to easily manage their operations in many 
different locations or countries. Technology is played major role in running and managing 
business operations that also created security and safety issues. All the major Australian retail 
companies such as Woolworths, Coles, Myer, David Jones, Dick Smith, and others used the 
technology and software to manage supply chain and other different business activities. Misuse 
of the technology and others issues such as hacking, cyber attacks, malwares, viruses, and others 
created the cyber security of the retail firms that running their stores in different locations (Burns 
& McGrail, 2012). In this business research investigation, retail industry of Australia will be 
pointed through chosen retail firms those faced the challenges and issues associated with cyber 
security that effected business profit and success in the market.  
2. Project Objectives 
The following main objectives of this research will be provided direction to conduct this 
study:

This research title is to “identify the major challenges in cyber security faced by the 
organizations: in the context of the Australian retail companies. This research is vital to identify 
the threats, challenges and opportunities related to cyber security for the major Australian retail 
businesses. This project develops a conceptual framework and enhances understanding on the 
cyber security challenges or issues impacts on retail firms businesses. This research scope is to 
discover the ways, strategies and tactics that implement by firms to deal with cyber security 
issues and challenges and maintain their position in the market. This research practically 
contributes for retail industry in the worldwide market to describe the strategies or tactics to deal 
with cyber security challenges.
