For this assignment you will need to find a local professional to interview regarding the training and development practices of his/her employer. Preferably, interview someone in a management or human resources related role that has sufficient knowledge of all the company’s T&D practices.Please do not interview yourself or a classmate.
The information you are seeking through this interview is the training AND development practices of the organization you have selected. You will interview this person to find out about the breadth and depth of these programs (get lots of specifics).
In the paper, please start by introducing the individual you are interviewing: name, position, company. Also briefly describe the company and what it does (purpose/mission). In the body of the paper, you are to describe your findings. Detail the practices of the company (training practices AND development practices) and relate them back to concepts covered in class. (For example, what do they do in regard to: training new employees on their job duties, orienting new employees to company culture, management/leadership development programs, tuition reimbursement, other training and/or development courses, etc….and not only what do they do, but how do they do it, why, when, etc. And be sure to reference course material as you describe these things.)
In concluding, pleaseevaluatethe company’s practices. Using your knowledge and what you are learning this semester, how well do you feel this company does training and development of its employees? Reference back to some of the practices’ advantages/disadvantages that are covered in the text. Explain areas you think they do well or excel in and why. Then, discuss other areas you think they are lacking and explain why, along with recommendations to improve. (You need at least

recommendation.)
Be sure to include a reference page (including any and all sources used) and an appendix with your interview transcript (interview questionsandresponses).
As always…While I do not count pages for the sake of having a certain number of pages, this report will likely be approximately 5-10 pages. Some students are more direct and write very succinctly, while others are more descriptive. Either way, I’m looking more for the content that is required than a certain number of pages.
