Marcus,
Great post as always. While I agree online learning can help improve how quickly passive learner absorbs information, there can be a downfall if for example the learner is more visual and the content encompasses more reading and verbal interaction. The question of how well the method of rehearsal works centers on the learner having the ability to reduce the extraneous cognitive load which fails to enhance learning to allow for a system that encourages germane cognitive load to be increased for optimal learning (De Jong, 2010). Regarding the statement that technology and media is a bright light for active learners is too broad of a statement, as an example there are learners that while a digital book would cost less and they could have access to it on several of their technological platforms, there are those that prefer to have the hard book where they can highlight and mark passages to refer back too.

Marcus, great job on your post. I hope you are doing well where you are as things here in Texas are not great, I remember that you are from Dallas so if you still have friends or family here are hope that they are safe as well. The Van Kaam method is useful for qualitative research, although it can be very lengthy the in-depth examination should help achieve validity (Statistics Solutions, 2019). There are various steps to follow in this method including horizontalization, reduction and elimination, thematize the invariant constituents, checking the themes against the data, create individual textural descriptions, create individual structural descriptions, create composite textural descriptions, create composite structural descriptions, and create a composite structural- textural description (Statistics Solutions, 2019). This is a method that could be applied to many instances but may not work for all as it can be overly in-depth.
