FPH201_Assessment_3_Brief_Digital Poster_Module Due_5.2 Page 1 of 6 Task Summary The goal of this task is to produce a poster on cultural awareness and cultural safety that is directed towards an audience of peer colleagues of the nursing discipline and other health professionals. You are expected to synthesise and present these issues in light of evidence-based practice. The focus of this poster is an analysis of a case study informing a nurse’s decision making, actions, and best practice when caring for their client with a specific health condition (taken from your report in Assessment 2). Weighting 35% Total Marks 100 marks FPH201_Assessment_3_Brief_Digital Poster_Module Due_5.2 Page 2 of 6 Context Improving the health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia is a longstanding challenge for health services and governments in Australia. While there have been improvements on some measures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health status, they have not matched the rapid health gains made in the general population in Australia. The inequality in health status experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is linked to systemic discrimination. This has been identified as a human rights concern by United Nations committees; and acknowledged as such by Australian governments. This assessment will advance your evidence evaluation, critical analysis and visual presentation skills which may be transferable to poster development and delivery in the professional context. Designing and delivering posters also develops competency in advocacy for health problems. Task Instructions You are required to: • Build a case study (take the specific health issue from your Assessment 2 report), drawing on relevant evidence and resources of information from publications and creditable sources to evidence the facts of the case study. • Identify and discuss the implications for a nurse’s decision-making and actions for the client. • Make recommendations for best practice to respond to the client’s specific health condition. • Promote cultural awareness and cultural safety in day to day standards of nursing practice and outcomes. The poster will be assessed on the following criteria: • Poster structure and case study content – organisation of written information • Identification of key issues and concepts – application of analysis • Best practice response and aspirations to the needs of the client • Cultural safety and respectful practice • Problem solving and rationale • Written presentation, grammar and academic integrity standards • Professional artefact and visual appeal Please refer to the attached assessment rubric when preparing your poster.
