CHAPTER FOUR RESULTS 4.1 Overview In this chapter, the results of the analysed data are through statistical analysis. The obtained results are shown in tables and charts. Usually most of the questionnaires start off by asking for the respondent’s demographic details. But this questionnaire is slightly different. The questionnaire for this study is designed in such way where it is divided into three parts. The first part comprises of Factors of students’ disruptive behaviour. The second part comprises of Types of students' disruptive behaviour and finally followed by the respondent’s demographic details. The main reason to evaluate this data is to seek out factors and therefore the types of Malaysian secondary school student’s disruptive behaviour. 4.2 Factors of students’ disruptive behaviour. There are many explanations behind disruptive behaviour, it can come from students’ responses to their teacher’s behaviour or from different factors inside or outside the classroom (Yahaya, 2009). 1. Have you ever had fought with your parents? Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid Strongly disagree 5 8.1 8.1 8.1 Disagree 6 9.7 9.7 17.7 Neutral 7 11.3 11.3 29.0 Agree 12 19.4 19.4 48.4 Strongly Agree 32 51.6 51.6 100.0 Total 62 100.0 100.0 Table 1 Table 1 shows the first question from section A, “Have you ever had fought with your parents?” According to the students, 51.6% them strongly agree on this. They absolutely agree to the fact that they fight and argue with their parents all the time. Fighting or arguing in this sense means that they constantly have misunderstandings and they have different perspectives and ideas to a point where they cannot see eye to eye to which leads to fights and arguments constantly. Followed by the second highest which is 19.4%, where students agree to the question which claims that they do fight with their parents. Figure 1 Based on figure 1, it can be seen clearly that 7 out of 62 respondents which is also equivalent to 11.3 % neither agree nor disagree to whether they fight with their parents or not. Apart from this, 6 of them disagreed to the statement where they do not fight with their parent as much, followed by the remaining 5 respondents who strongly disagreed to fighting with their parents. 2. Have your parents ever fought with each other? Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid Strongly Disagree 4 6.5 6.5 6.5 Disagree 5 8.1 8.1 14.5 Neutral 11 17.7 17.7 32.3 Agree 14 22.6 22.6 54.8 Strongly Agree 28 45.2 45.2 100.0 Total 62 100.0 100.0 Table 2 Table 2 shows the second question from section A, “Have your parents ever fought with each other?” According to the students, 28 out of 62 students, about 45.2% them strongly agree on this. They absolutely agree that their parents fight with each other most of the time.. Followed by the second highest which is 22.6% where students agree to the question which claims that their parents do fight with one another. Figure 2 Based on figure 2, it can be seen clearly that 11 out of 62 respondents which is also equivalent to 17.7% neither agree nor disagree to whether their parents fight with one another. Apart from this, 5 of them disagreed to the statement where their parents do not fight as much, followed by the remaining 4 respondents who strongly disagreed to their parents fighting with each other. 3. Do you think your parents do not care about you? Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid Strongly Disagree 27 43.5 43.5 43.5 Disagree 3 4.8 4.8 48.4 Neutral 6 9.7 9.7 58.1 Agree 9 14.5 14.5 72.6 Strongly Agree 17 27.4 27.4 100.0 Total 62 100.0 100.0 Table 3 Table 3 shows the third question from section A, “Do you think your parents do not care about you?” According to the students, 27 out of 62 of them which makes around 43.5% them, strongly disagree on this. They do not believe that their parents do not care about them. They believe that their parents care about them so much. Followed by the second highest where 17 out of 62 which is 27.4% of the students strongly agree to the question which claims that their parents do not care about them. This data however is contradicting to one another. Figure 3 Based on figure 3, it can be seen clearly that 9 students out of 62 of them which makes around 14.5% that they do in fact agree that they think their parents do not care about them. Moreover, 6 out of 62 students equivalent to 9.7% chose the option “neutral” meaning that they do not actually agree with the statement, nor disagree to it. Finally, 3 out of 62 students which makes up 4.8% of the participants, disagree to the question which means that they do think their parents care about them. 4. Do you think they prioritize your sibling more than you? Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid Strongly Disagree 22 35.5 35.5 35.5 Disagree 1 1.6 1.6 37.1 Neutral 10 16.1 16.1 53.2 Agree 12 19.4 19.4 72.6 Strongly Agree 17 27.4 27.4 100.0 Total 62 100.0 100.0 Table 4 Table 4 shows the fourth question from section A, “Do you think they prioritize your sibling more than you?” According to the students, 22 out of 62 of them which makes around 35.5% them, strongly disagree on this. They do not think their parents prioritize their sibling more than them. This could either be one of two things. Firstly, it is in fact the truth whereby their parents do not prioritize one child than the other and treat every child equally. The second point could be that their parents do not in fact care about any of the children. Followed by the second highest where 17 out of 62 which is 27.4% of the students strongly agree to the question which claims that their parents, they prioritize their siblings more than them. Figure 4 Based on figure 4, it can be seen that 12 out of 62 of them which makes around 19.4% of the respondents agree that they do in fact think that their parents prioritize their siblings more than them. However, 10 out of 62 respondents which makes about 16.1 % of the students chose to answer neutral, where they did not agree nor disagree to the given question. Finally, 1 out of 62 students disagree to the question where the respondent disagrees to question. 5. Do you think your parents are over protective because they want to control you? They solemnly agree that their parents are over protective of the students mainly because they want to control them. The option “agree” has the second highest number of votes where 16 out of 62 students which is equivalent to 25.8% had agreed to this statement. Controlling in this sense meaning that their parents do not let them go out, or allow them to do what they want to do. Figure 5 Based on figure 5, it can be seen that 12 out of 62 students of them which makes around 14.5% that they do in fact agree that they think their parents do not care about them.
