Required Resources · You will need to have access to relevant legislation, standards and codes, industry practices and student book resources. · You may need access to organisational documents and deliverables from previous tasks in the assessment. Evidence · You must submit the completed assessment cover sheet and other evidence as outlined in the observation instructions, by online submission within the allocated time. · Ensure you keep a copy of your submitted work. When and where will this assessment take place? · This assessment may be undertaken in a simulated environment/in a classroom/at home – to be discussed with the assessor. · Your assessor will provide you with the due date, which can be recorded in the assessment plan. · Your assessor may also specify the length of time allowed and the expected word count, if applicable. What if the assessment is not suitable? · If you are unable to provide sufficient evidence within the observation assessment method, your assessor may be able to provide you with an alternative method. Observation Instructions No. The student’s assessment shows evidence of the following: 1 Role play You are required to participate in a roleplay where you will play the role of a Community Services worker, who is taking part in an annual employee performance review with yout Team Leader/ Manager (played by another student). The roleplay will focus on your personal development plan for the next 12 months. Each roleplay will be timed by the assessor and be conducted within 10-15 minutes to allow you enough time to demonstrate the required evidence that you have: 1. Undertaken a structured process to reflect on and improve their own practice and created a personal development plan that includes: a. goals b. timeframes c. ways of measuring progress You may be provided with additional time for the role play, to demonstrate the required evidence. During the roleplay, you will: 2. Choose an area of practice for the role play (e.g. disability, mental health, family services, community development etc.) 3. Choose a job title (e.g. Disability Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Family Worker) 4. Identify three professional goals that you want to achieve in the next 12 months. Your goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and include a time frame. Two goals should focus on your professional practice and one goal should focus on professional development opportunities, such as industry networking, attending training or joining or obtaining information from a professional association. 5. You should include both formal and informal ways of learning in your personal development plan. For example, formal learning may include attending training courses or professional development seminars. Informal learning may include talking to colleagues, observing colleagues, visiting other programs. Example: 1. Develop and extend my skills in writing case notes according to agency procedure by presenting case notes for two clients for discussion and review with my supervisor at monthly meetings for the next three months. Example: 2: Develop my knowledge on current industry developments in disability by attending a half day NDIS information session on (date) and provide a brief verbal report at the monthly staff meeting in (date). Example 3: Develop knowledge and new ideas for disability day programs by visiting two agencies in the within the next three months and reporting back at the next team meeting. 6. You should also describe how you are going to measure (and record) your progress with your personal development plan. 7. Tip: You should also demonstrate appropriate communication skills for a Community Services worker. You should: · Ensure you speak clearly, confidently and at an appropriate volume. · Maintain appropriate eye contact with the Team Leader/Manager · Ensure your timing is appropriate – i.e. don’t speak too quickly or too slowly 8. You must submit your completed Personal Development Plan to your assessor after the role play. Assessment conditions: The assessment conditions will take place in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions.
