Introduction
Water for Elephants has been beautifully written by Canadian author Sar
a Gruen, and it discusses the world of circus. This novel is a piece of historical fiction that has been narrated by Jacob Jankowski. He trained to be a veterinarian but he dropped out of college because his family was poor and there were financial difficulties. Suddenly one day his parents die, and while looking for work Jacob joins the Benzini Brother’s circus show. Through this essay the ups and down in life of Jacob will be explored very minutely. The thesis will focus on the theme of love shown by Jacob towards the circus master’s wife Marlena.
