Businesses in today’s world not only expect but also they want to assure sustainability in the market for a longer ti
me. It would be essential to consider that information technology (IT) has made it possible by providing solutions to the issues such as lack of labour and working efficiency. However, there can be certain issues associated with the inculcation of IT in business. This report will focus upon some of those issues through the example of Telstra Corporation Limited.
Introduction
With the increase in the inculcation of IT in business, chances of cyber-attacks and security breaches also exaggerate. Therefore, this report will address the benefits associated with the inculcation of IT and threats that it may possess using Telstra Corporation Limited as an example. A major information breach was reported in 2018, where the company’s website reflected more than 66,000 customer records to an unsuspected user under ‘Your Telstra Tools’ service of the company. This was a major bug that exposed contact umber, emails as well as the addresses of the numbered consumers and posed threat to their privacy.

Telstra Corporation Limited is one of the leading telecommunication company operating in Australia. It builds as well as operates telecommunication networks, mobile phones, internet access, television and many other products and services. Telstra deals with a huge consumer market in all over Australia therefore, it becomes essential for the company to process and secure the data of consumers. Telstra has set foot in consumer service, Telstra digital (digital channel service), more than 360 retail stores as reported in 2016, and numerous new brands. McDougal (2017) suggested that it would be essential to consider that maintaining data of such as a large number of consumer is not an easy task and this justifies Telstra’s need for IT. According to the reports presented by Telstra in 2013, the company claimed that, live chat workforce was increased to 600 due to huge consumers seeking service through chat, more than 140,000 live chats per month in November 2012. This clearly justifies the bolstering need for the inculcation of IT.
2)
Information Technology (IT) has been observed as an emerging sector, which has allowed business to set foot in the international market. IT has also provided business with the ability to save and secure their data in a much compressed as well as reliable form and it can be kept secured from any third party access. St Clair et al. (2018) reflected upon the fact that Telstra deals with such as huge number of consumers and communication with them can be a major issue. Further, Telstra itself is a telecommunication company therefore; IT is the major backbones as well as support system. Moreover, Telstra is the leading telecommunication company that continuously favours updating as well as innovation. As a result, IT emerges as a major necessity for marketing and business growth along with the decision making process. Customer satisfaction and market conditions are two major aspects that...
