THE LINEAR CORRELATION COEFFICIENT
1. a. Example of positively correlated height and weight are positively correlated.
As the height of a person increases, the weight also increases.
If the height is reduced the weight decreases.
b. Example of negatively correlated sales and price are two variable that are negatively correlated.
We see that as the price of a product increases the sales of the product decreases. However where the price decreases, the sales increase. (Note: this is applicable to common thing and not for rare items)
For example, we tend to buy more in the supermarket when there is a huge discount. And reduce buying when the price has been hiked up.
