Untitled document First research and then select an organization that has used one or more of the enterprise systems listed here: SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) ERP software allows organizations to manage resources throughout the organization, independently of which business function controls the resource. Typical modules in ERP software include financial management, order processing, or human resource management. Supply Chain Management System (SCM) SCM software helps organizations manage the movement of materials or products from provision to production to consumption. SCM involves collaboration between partners both upstream and downstream from the focal organization. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) An organization-wide strategy for managing an organization’s multiple interactions with customers. It allows organizations to attract, retain, and manage customer relationships – for example by offering personalized services and self-servicing tools. It allows for an organization to analyze customer data to find its most profitable products, services and customers. It involves both technology and a philosophy of customer service. Business Intelligence (BI) A set of tools used to analyze business data to find trends, issues, and opportunities. Companies have accumulated large amounts of data, such as sales, revenues, or expenses, to name a few, and BI tools provide various views of these data to help decision makers. BI tools include a wide variety of analysis approaches, such as online analytical processing, business analytics, or data and text mining. Content Management Systems (CMS) CMS applications allow companies to manage the vast amounts of information of various types (content) they have stored. This includes the capture, storing, preservation and delivery of content. CMS refers to technologies, strategies, and approaches to managing content. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) PLM systems are used by organizations for innovation management (strategy and planning, idea capture and management, program and project management), management of product development, and compliance management. https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/120889/pages/topic-enterprise-information-systems https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/120889/pages/further-your-understanding-optional-techtarget-definition-of-enterprise-resource-planning-systems https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/120889/pages/further-your-understanding-optional-techtarget-guide-to-supply-chain-management-systems https://northeastern.instructure.com/courses/120889/pages/further-your-understanding-optional-cio-magazine-article-what-is-business-intelligence-transforming-data-into-business-insights-dot Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) EAI is a set of tools and services (a framework instead of a single technology) to allow various enterprise systems (such as ERP or CRM) to share data and communicate. It makes use of so-called “middleware” to perform this kind of data exchange. Unified Communications (UC) UC is a framework for the integration of the various modes of communication used by an organization, including E-mail, voice mail, video conferencing, instant messaging, texting and voice over Internet Protocol (or VoIP). For example, a customer may leave a voice mail that is automatically sent as an E-mail message to an account representative (based on preferences). Similarly, instead of sending an E-mail, the voice mail can be transferred immediately to an instant message if the representative is currently online. In some way to transform their business model, customer experience, or critically important business process (e.g. supply chain management). Then write an original case study based on the selected organization and their transformational use of one or more enterprise-wide information system.: Formatting and Page Length A single cover page must be included with a descriptive heading, student's name, and course section number. The length of the case study must be no less than 4 pages, single spaced (font and size: Times New Roman 11), and no more than 7 pages. In addition to the body of the text, any relevant exhibits and appendices that are included at the end must be limited to another 4 pages in length. Therefore, the combined page limit for the body of the text plus any exhibits and appendices is 11 pages in total. Section Headings and Content Executive Summary: This must appear first and be limited to a single paragraph description of how the case study provides an example of an organization's transformational use of one or more enterprise information system. Introduction: This must be included after the executive summary on the first page and provide some background information on the company including; which industry they are in, their business model, product/service offerings, markets they serve, and their primary value discipline (operational excellence, customer intimacy, or product leadership). In addition, a brief synopsis of the situation or circumstances driving the need for transformational use of one or more enterprise information system must also be included. What are they trying to achieve and why? Note: The combined length of the Executive Summary and Introduction must not exceed a single page. The Transformation: This section must begin with an overview of the fundamental challenges or problems the organization faced with people, process, and technology that needed to be addressed in order to achieve the desired outcome of the transformational change. Next, describe their approach to organizational change, process redesign, and application of enterprise information systems the organization used in an attempt to address the challenges or problems they faced. The final portion of this section of the case study needs to describe how relevant uses of one or more enterprise information system ultimately enabled the transformation of their business model, customer experience, or critically important business process (e.g. supply chain management). Conclusion: Based on your assessment, was the transformational change successful? Was the desired outcome of the transformational change defined well enough at the outset to even be able to know whether or not it was successful? Did they accomplish what they set out to do? Why or why not? In conclusion, assess the organization's transformational use of the enterprise information system(s) based on the extent to which the people, process, and technology enabled them to achieve the desired results.
