Length: 2000 words (excluding references) Reference style : APA reference style ( you should Mainly use text book for references) Task Sometimes global business can present significant ethical challenges.  Please review 'Blood, Sweat & T-shirts', the documentary that you watched in week one, and prepare a report that evaluates the ethical challenges presented in the program. Required: Please prepare a report that evaluates the ethical responsibilities of the retailers who buy goods from the Indian factories.  In your report you should discuss whether the retailers are currently taking a narrow or broad view of CSR and explain your reasoning. You will need to consider the arguments for both the narrow and broad view and explain why the broad view is ethical. You should also consider the ethical obligations of the retailers and professionals involved in the process and apply an ethical theory to support your analysis and reasoning.    Rationale This task is designed to measure the following learning outcomes where students should be able to: · be able to outline ethical theories in western moral philosophy and apply them in organisational contexts; · professionals can affect society in positive and negative ways. .   Marking criteria Assessment Item 2 - Marking Criteria   HD DI CR PS FL Criterion 1 9-10 8 7 5-6<5 written="" expression,="" attain a mark at a higher level, all criteria at the lower level must be met (e.g. to achieve a credit, students must fulfil all the requirements listed in the passcolumn for the relevant criterion and, in addition, must perform at the level indicated in the credit column. addressing a criterion at a particular level does not guarantee you the maximum marks for that level. there will be some difference among students in regard to how well they have satisfied each requirement. where there is some leeway for the allocation of marks, these will be awarded at your marker's discretion (taking into account how well you have satisfied the requirement).   presentation 1. use a standard 12pt font such as times new roman, calibri or arial 2. do not convert your work into pdf 3. use at least 1.5 whether the retailers in blood sweat and t-shirts are currently taking a narrow or broad view of csr and explain your reasoning. you will need to consider the arguments for both the narrow and broad retailers and the factory workers? · 2. you should also consider the ethical obligations of the retailers and professionals involved in the process · questions we should ask: · - what responsibility 10% of the word count e. an executive summary provides a brief summary of the entire study, which addresses the following five: introduction · include the following: · background/context · background information (for example a brief history or description, set context of topic or problem) · problem/purpose · what is the problem that your report is responding to and what is the rationale for discussing it? · scope · a report should include specific information that is relevant to the purpose. narrowing your report is known as establishing the scope (or focus). body · organise your material logically, in the order stated in your introduction · use headings and sub-headings · present evidence using appropriate in-text references · consider different perspectives (arguments for and against) · base your concluding sentence on analysis and evaluation of the evidence you have provided paragraph · a paragraph must have both unity and cohesion. it is “a group of related sentences that develops one main idea.” conclusion in the conclusion you should show the overall significance of what has been covered and what you found out. you should remind the reader of the most important points that have been made and highlight the most central issues. however, no new material should be introduced in the conclusion, simply restate the basic facts and key argument. · use past tense, Introduction
Background
Increasing globalization, simplified trade policies, lower taxation rate, low labour cost, etc are the factors those are attracting the companies with big labels and brands towards the third world countries of the globe. China, Thailand, India, Africa, are few names which are being considered for developing a manufacturing unit of the companies. These factors allow the companies to enjoy the lower costing of the products which increase the competitive advantage of the company. While establishing such units the company management hire a local person to take the responsibility of developing the unit and deliver the demanded work as per decided costing. Most of them do not even once visit the places where the actual work takes place. Even the people who are making the purchase of such products are happy to pay less for the product but does not want to know how and by whom these products are made (Floros, 2011). The four-series documentary “Blood, Sweat and T Shirts” broadcasted by BBC aims to expose six young British fashion-conscious consumers to the harsh realities of India’s textile industry.
Problem
The documentary exposes the young Britishers to the realities in which the Indian textile workers work to prepare clothes for various brands. In the given documentary it was identified that basic work ethics which are added in the policies and regulations of most of the countries are not effectively applied in Indian textile industry. Child labour, long working, hours, unhealthy working conditions, no employee-employer relations policies, poor wages, no sanitary facilities, etc were some of the unethical practices being followed by the operators or managers. The company owners who are earning due to the hard work of these individuals are taking no actions to improve the working conditions (Mason et al., 2008).
Scope
The aim or the scope of the given report will be to discuss the view that retailers are taking on the Corporate Social Responsibility. Along with the discussion the report will provide ethical theories and the reason as to why such situations are being justified on the ethical grounds
Ethical Dilemma the Series Developed
Power Dynamics
Power dynamics refer to the implication of power to develop creativity and discipline in the employees hired to provide the work for which the manager or factory operator is hired. The role of power dynamics could be identified with the experience that Richard face. He was denominated from the post of sewing to ironing because he did not sew the cloth in a proper line. Point that need to be noted is that he missed the straight line just by some millimetres. The working conditions in which the workers were working was not clean and healthy or any way near the required work place environment. Also, most of the people working for the factory operator comes from uneducated background and lack the skills and qualification to do anything. Handling such worker which in Indian terms is called ‘Crude’ labour is a difficult task. To maintain discipline and accomplishment of the target needs the influence of power which a manager has to develop at the workplace (Ahlawat & Renu, 2018).
Relationship Between the Retailers and Factory Workers
The relationship between the retailers and factory workers is nil in the given case. Most of the retailers those are getting their work done from the Indian factory workers are not even aware of the fact that in what conditions the factory workers are working. Most of the time there is a middle-men who develop a contact between the retailers and the factory workers. He takes the quote from the factory operators and then forward it to the retailers keeping his cut in...
