Elements Relating to the Chosen Event
Description of the Event Concept
This is an open-air festival that is organised in Adelaide Botanic garden every year. In 2021, the location was changed due to restrictions imposed by the government for Covid-19. It is a multicultural fest, in which music, arts and dance events, representing people from different cultures, are organised (Franklin, Lee & Rentschler, 2021). In this festival, traditional & contemporary music, dance, visual arts and street performance from all around the world are showcased.
The festival encourages people to listen to music of other cultures except their own for developing global understanding. A thought-provoking environmental Planet Talks program is organised and a KidZone is kept where the children get a friendly atmosphere and do not disturb their parents who are attending the event. A Taste the World is organised where artists from all over the world can participate to prepare the authentic dishes of their places, cultures and countries (Thomasson, 2017).
The artists cook as well as tell the background (history) of those dishes to the people. A full service restaurant is also present where people can eat the food according to their choices. Many types of dishes are present there. Over 50 international food stalls are also placed in the area where the event is organised. Big eateries place their stalls so that the people who went to see the event can savour the taste of international delicacies.
Analysis of the Target Market
Womadelaide is a four-day multicultural festival. Almost 18000 to 20000 attend the festival each day. The activities of the event change every day so the same crowd can come and watch on the four days. Over a third of the people who attend the event come from interstate and overseas. Younger generation is the main target...
