Assessment Task 1 - Post 1- Time management
Due to being a student nurse, our main objective lies in learning how to provide the best care to the patients by uplifting their mental strength by the means of therapeutic relationship and through active communication skills. Nurses play a crucial role in providing efficient care to the patients. The availability of nurses around the clock makes them one of the most important parts of the care (Murray, Sundin & Cope, 2019). Nurses are expected to be the multitalented and multitaskers in the healthcare sector.
According to Ghiasvand et al. (2017), for this purpose, time management is absolutely necessary and also prioritizing the needs of the patients on the basis of their urgency of the needs should be learnt to done by being a student nurse. As supported by Nayak (2018), we all know that, time is precious and how to efficiently manage it in order to cater the needs of the patients should be our ultimate target after being a professional nurse.
Time management by the nurses is not only creating and accomplishing the goals set by us previously but also finishing in minimum possible time. As supported by Garcia-Moyano, et al, (2017), the commitment to change myself, learning as a student nurse and make myself more efficient in good time management techniques and skills will be bringing out a stark difference and help me in serving the purpose more effectively. The two strategies, which I wish to implement, being a student nurse for effective time management, are making a list of my everyday duties, when I start with the work regarding handling all the patients and prioritizing them accordingly.
I need to keep proper time for the completion of my assigned duties and keep ticking the list as soon as I complete the task. If any task is taking more time, then the rest needs to be managed accordingly but I should make sure to fulfil the tasks within the stipulated amount of time. Regarding the conduction of therapeutic sessions as well, proper time management should be implicated for example, I should not invest more time behind one patient as this will automatically make me invest less on another, which should not be the case (Meiring, 2017).
Assessment Task 1 – Post 2- Key differences between student nurse and graduate Registered Nurse (RN)
Being student nurse, we are still in the learning phase and lot of changes need to be implemented on us during this journey before we become the final graduate RN. According...
