In order to do this, students must seek the informed consent of clients / interviewees who participate in practice counselling sessions and/or interviews that may involve the disclosure of private and / or personal information. Students are required to appropriately erase or dispose of recorded material upon completion of their course of study and receipt of final transcript of results. When a student undertakes a practice counselling session and/or interview as part of their assessment, and which involves a client or interviewee (who may be another student or non- student), the student must: ▪ Ensure the client or interviewee is aged 18 years or over ▪ Ask the client or interviewee to read and sign this Client/Interviewee Consent Form. ▪ Use a separate form for each person when there is more than one client/interviewee. ▪ Provide a copy of the completed Consent Form to the client or interviewee. ▪ Retain the original copy of the completed Consent Form in a secure location and upload a copy of the consent form with the assignment ▪ Destroy or delete the content of the practice session or interview (if recorded) once the student has completed the course of study and received their final transcript of results. · Disability is a condition, which restricts individual’s sensory, mental and mobility functions.
· Overall, 4.4 million individuals in Australia suffers from some kind of disability.

Disability ratio in Australia has been increasing with the increase in overall population. A disability can be temporary, total or partial, acquired, visible, invisible and much more. However, every disability forces the individual to adapt accordingly and government has to imply policies in order to facilitate the disabled. This presentation will talk about Down syndrome along with its causes and potential impacts on disabled as well as others.
Type of Disability
· 17.8% of females and 17.6% of males are disabled in Australia.
· 44.5% of disabled belong to age group of 65 years and above.
· Down syndrome is a genetic disability and is permanent, lifelong and visible.
· Rate of babies to be born with this disability is 1:1,100.
