Assignment 1:
Marxian theory serves different meanings to different people. While some assume it to be a utopian vision of a just society, some think of it as a tool for a totalitarian regime, and then some understand it as a mere theory that can never be a healthy reality. Marxist thought is laid down in the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital, the voluminous book of ideas and concepts written by Karl Marx himself. Amongst t
he many ideas propagated by Marx, some have been known for their inextinguishable relevance.
Class Struggle defines the conflict between those who own the means of production, also known as the ruling class or the bourgeoisie, and those who are the factors leading to production, also known as the labour class or the proletariat. Joseph Wedemeyer, an early socialist revolutionary defined the idea of ‘dictatorship of the proletariat in which the goal of how the working-class shall gain the control of political power is discussed. Communism, a theory developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels presents a picture where private property is abolished and classless, stateless society is established. According to historical materialism, all the societies pass through stages involving primitive communism, slave society, feudalism, capitalism, socialism, and finally, communism. Internationalism, as a concept, elaborated the fact that workers of the world should unite and a political structure that transcends political boundaries should be encouraged. ‘Opium of the people,’ has been discussed by Marx in terms of religion and how it exploits the already oppressed to suppress their pain with illusion, thereby encouraging false beliefs and actions.
The quote “Religion is the opium of masses” originated from the introduction of one of Marx’s works named “A Contribution to the critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right.” It is not just in books, but on the ground too, has the Marxian theory been applied.

Assignment 2:
1. While the Quantitative Research approach deals with statistics and figures, qualitative research deals with words and narratives. One has to explore and analyse the outcome during the aftermath of quantitative figures, qualitative data on the other hand allows one to explore ideas, implement experiences and techniques on the field, and otherwise.
2. Hypothesis in social science research is used to examine the phenomena of the social world. Several relationships that work in the environment can be observed effectively through the construction of the hypothesis. One can say that hypothesis is a prediction that forms the outcome of a research project. Variable, on the other hand, can refer to a person, place, thing, or a physical environment that tries to measure the outcome in some way. There are two kinds of variables, namely independent and dependent variables. While the independent variables are typically thought of as cause, dependent variables are seen as an effect.
3. The first three stages of a research process are discussed as follows:
· Identifying a research problem: Usually, a researcher needs to frame questions before they start to proceed with the field research. Identification of the problem is necessary because it sets the authenticity of the research.
· Reviewing Literature is another necessary step in the process of research. Literature review comprises of reading texts, analysing their background and meanings, compiling ideas into one place, and concisely summarizing the arguments. This step is an important point in the journey of carrying out any research as it requires a lot of dedication and clarification about the research questions and arguments.
· Analysing research design: This step prepares the researcher to design a framework of the methods and techniques that can help to induce the research process. The design explains the type of research the researcher is going to abide by. It includes experimental, survey, correlational, semi-experimental, and review methods. Whether or not the research is going to be experimental or descriptive, is what the concept of design focuses upon....
