1) Data is drawn from a normal distribution with a mean of 120 and a standard deviation of 50. A sample of a 100 was taken and the sample mean computed. Assume data is normal
a) What is the mean of the sample mean of 100
Ans : As the data is drawn from normal distribution so sample mean will be same as population mean.
μX¯ = μ=120
b) What is the standard deviation of the sample mean of 100.
As n= 100, σ = 50
σ X¯¯ = σ/ √n
=50/√100 =5
c) What is the probability that the sample mean of 100 exceeds 127
Z = (127-120)
50 /√100
