Assessment Task A
Short written questions
Written questions assess the required knowledge needed to undertake the tasks as outlined in the performance criteria and elements.
Student instructions:
· You must answer all 23 knowledge-based questions correctly using the word counts as a guide to the length of the answer.
· You can access learning resources and materials during the assessment.
1. Which key stakeholders would you consult with to identify the requirements of a new network? (50 words)
The key stakeholders are would like to consult to identify the requirement of a new network are basically containing the users, providers, influencers and governance.
Users: The users are the stakeholder that should be use the product of your network or the programme. That could be customers who are the group of internal department.
Providers: The providers will basically give us the suppliers and vendors for the business category.
Influencers: These are the people who have basically the power of decisions that should have the ability to change the direction of network.
Governance: This is basically the group of people who have an interest into the managing the network.
2. Explain the following authentication methods and protocols.
a. Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (50 words)
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol is basically a session oriented protocol that can maintain the tcp connection with the server. So it is used where the client application can be used with the directory on the same network. The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol can be the public internet facing directories may be used to internally but it is providing the directory to the used for HTTP based protocols.
b. Kerberos (50 words)
Kerberos is something that can provide the centralized the authentication server to the authenticating the users to servers and the database is used to the client authentication. The Kerberos basically runs as the third party trusted server known as the key distribution center. The main components are used into the Kerberos are Authentication server, database, ticket granting server etc.
Answer the following questions about resolving compatibility issues.
a. Summarise the procedure for dealing with compatibility issues. (60 words)
The compatibility issues might be dealing with different platforms that can basically poses the major problem for developers because of computing environments. The issues can be missing library functions and non-existent dependencies and other incompatibilities that will occur on development work. In many cases the software can be used on different platforms then the optimal solution can be deploying the software that will be used into the different computer packages.
b. Identify two ways in which you can attempt to fix a software compatibility issue. (35 words)
In an operating system the built in tool called compatibility troubleshooter that could be automatically fix any compatibility problems. The troubleshooter can’t fix the compatibility mode which is basically run the application. You can fix software compatibility issues using the windows start menu and windows xp mode.
You can select the software listed in the windows start menu and troubleshoot the program to fix the compatibility issue.
Using windows XP mode, you can use the software from Microsoft that will basically allow the computer to run the software in a simulated windows environment.
