ICT For Construction
Scope of Assessment
This assignment aims to explore the business case for the use/improved use of
Level 2 BIM within a specific construction project/department/organisation
that you are familiar with. Each student is required to undertake an in‐depth investigation of relevant BIM technologies and their application in relation to the chosen context, presenting their findings in a Report and Poster. In completing the assignment, each student must clearly:
1. Critically evaluate the current use of IT and/or BIM within the specific
project/department/company/sector/profession.
2. Identity and critically evaluate a range of technology‐enabled Level 2 BIM solutions, selecting the most appropriate solution(s), which can improve the current situation.
3. Develop a business strategy for implementation/improved use of Level 2 BIM within the specific project/department/company/sector/profession.
The proposed solution(s) must meet the defined requirements for Level 2 BIM, incorporate the
development of an appropriate Common Data Environment (adhered adhering to the requirements outlined in the relevant standards (e.g. ISO 19650).
Assessment Submission & Criteria
The
Report (worth 70%),
which should be framed as a business case for BIM or improved BIM (as appropriate), must be submitted via the link on Moodle no later than 10 pm on

April 2022.
The main body of the report should be
1500 words
(not including the cover page, references etc.), with the word count clearly stated on the cover page. The Report should clearly address the three criteria outlined above and will be assessed on the following basis:

Critical evaluation of current IT/BIM 15 marks
·
Critical evaluation of a range of potential Level 2 BIM solutions 30 marks
·
Clear & practical implementation strategy 25 marks
·
Professionally presented report 20 marks
·
Quality of information used 10 marks
Total
100 marks
The
Presentation (worth 30%)
must be produced in PowerPoint or a similar format
and
will take place during the timetabled

This presentation must be based on the work completed in the written report and include the
following:

Review of ICT/BIM/software 35 marks
·
Interaction/engagement with the class group 30 marks
·
Ability to present/explain in 8 minutes 35 marks
Total 100 marks
