Assessment Event number 2 of 3 Instructions for this assessment This is a project-based assessment that will be assessing you on your knowledge and performance of the unit. This assessment is in four parts: 1. Prepare report skeleton 2. Propose changes and evaluate the effect of changes 3. Present to client 4. Develop an Action Plan for implementation. Red Opal Innovations(ROI) To gain a background knowledge of Red Opal Innovations (ROI) please read Red Opal Innovations scenario (ROI_Scenario.pdf). As you are new to Red Opal Innovations, you should also look at the ROI organisation chart (ROI_Org_chart.pdf) so you know who to liaise with on this project. Tough Trailers strategic plan You have been recently appointed as a Project Manager in the Development Team with ROI. The Head of the ROI Development Team, Terrence Stewart, has asked you to start working in collaboration with Tough Trailers to define the problems with their strategic plan and present viable solutions. While you have access to various business documents, your primary role is to consider the existing ICT infrastructure and its inadequacies to meet current business requirements of Tough Trailers including the impact of these inadequacies. Please note the ROI Development Team is also working on another project with Tough Trailers that relates to website development for the client. At this stage you are not part of the website development project team. However, you have been advised to ensure that any probable impact of website development on the business is included in your work. Step 2.1 – Background information For this part of the assessment you need to review the work you completed in the previous assessment Project Assessment 1. Briefly describe why changes are required to the Tough Trailers’ current ICT systems? Include this information under the heading Background information in your report. (Approximately 150 words) Step 2.2 – Current ICT network and hardware For this part of the assessment you need to review the work you completed in the previous assessment Project Assessment 1 and the Existing ICT Resources – Tough Trailers document. From this point on you will focus on the upgrade of the existing Tough Trailers ICT setup into an integrated network structure. The development of the Tough Trailers website does not need to be considered. Currently the Tough Trailers business have 22 desktop computers, 21 business laptops and 6 printers. The departments are connected within themselves but not to each other and they do not have a centralised network or one access point for the entire network. Using networking diagram drawing software, prepare a network diagram that demonstrates the existing ICT setup at Tough Trailers. This diagram will include the current network as well as any additional hardware so that the diagram represents the entire situation. eport we will discuss about the organization who wants to have new infrastructure for the ICT. With the help of the new infrastructure, it will be easier for the organization to make sure that they have secure environment and all the updated resources. They expended gradually and steadily. Customers were ranging from the home handyman to the horse owners, serious off roaders, variety of the Motorsports, trade persons and also people who were involved in the bikes, cards and the boats.
Background Information
Tough trailers are known as the men metal fabricator which has specialization in the aluminium and stainless steel fabricated. It started in 2000 and then expanded in 2007 with the standard box and the customer trailer manufacturing. They became the full-time trailer manufacturer in 2010. They heard sales offices in the Sydney, Brisbane and the Melbourne. Each of the office had display standard box trailers. They had the head office in the new Castel. They expended gradually and steadily. Customers were ranging from the home handyman to the horse owners, serious off roaders, variety of the Motorsports, trade persons and also people who were involved in the bikes, cards and the boats. They faced problem with the limitation of how many demonstration items they can present in the sales offices. They were having extensive duration for receiving the quotations from the marriage corresponding manufacturer. They want to expand their areas so that it will become easier for the team to manage the task. The company wants to push into the customised trailer market which will offer individualised solutions by performing the module components which are manufactured in high volumes. They're looking to expand the sales outlets which will open the dealership and also franchising says outlets will be opened in the later time. There is also the requirement of creating the website as the major requirement to provide information about the standard and customised trailers and it will also be used as the online platform for the customers to make orders and the payments.
Current ICT network and Hardware
The hardware and network present in each Department are functional and they are connected within, but these departments are not connected with each other directly. They do not form any type of the centralised network for the access point for the whole network. The investigation first performed into the current arrangement of the ICT network and the hardware. All of them were not connected with each other but each Department had the connection within them. For example, the finance Department, sales in marketing, human resources, manufacturing, administration at the managing director were not linked with each other but they were linked within so that the team member of each Department was able to perform the duties.
