PROJECT PLAYWRIGHT 12th Grade ELA- Mr. Simmons/Thompson DUE-Tuesday 3/10/20 IMPROVING EDUCATION in the U.S. Evidence Based Opinion Paper In ELA we have been researching various articles, stories, scientific studies and opinion editorials in order to study the topic of success in education. For this paper you will develop a plan to solve the Achievement Gap in education. In other words: TASK: If you were in charge of education in the United States, What POLICIES would you create to improve education for all students? You will need to consider all the ideas we have discussed in class, in addition to developing ideas of your own. Some examples might be to create single sex classrooms, create more funding for non-cognitive programs, remove summer breaks, increase funding in lower income neighborhoods, build more Charter Schools, etc. Some questions to consider: · What steps would I take to improve education for the nation? (each step might be one or more paragraphs) · How/Why would each step specifically improve education? · What evidence supports this step? · What challenges might I encounter in implementing this step?
