Introduction
    Society is full of people who prefer to be frozen into their own shells and be passive or mute witnesses to social injustice around them. These people may be categorized as the bystanders who do not like to stand up and speak against injustice. These are the people who are least interested in protecting the moral values of honor, trust and safety. On the other hand active or positive bystanders or upstanders are the ones who like to help others and like to stand up against injustice and make tremendous efforts so that their voices against social injustice could be heard.
Analysis of the Documentary: The Bystander Moment
    The documentary begins by highlighting some of the most talked about events of sexual assault and domestic violence, which gradually turned into the topics of public conversation and catalyzed several movements and protests such as the Me Too movement that helped several women, outpoured their voices. This movement reflected that women are human beings and not hash tags. Social media was then flooded with such true stories of hundreds of women who stepped out to stop the culture of sexual assault and physical violence against women. The documentary talks about the bystander approach developed by Jackson Katz along with his colleagues. A thorough analysis has been done and illustrations have been made through news clips, sports and entertainment media.
    The role of bystanders particularly friends, teammates, classmates and co-workers has been explored perpetuating sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender violence. Katz has made commendable efforts to determine the causes of why people become passive bystanders. Some of the commonly observed reasons are diffusion of responsibility considering the fact that someone else will step out to do something, to help the victim and fear of losing the social status among their communities or their peer groups.
