Brown2 Title: The Devil You Know Milandra Brown Lisa Moore English 101 28 January 2020 Communication in the Last 40 Years Significant changes can be noticed in communication styles and methods in a period of last 40 years. In my opinion Communication has become stronger over a period. Technology has changed the methods of communication drastically and has helped people to reach out to people all around the globe without bothering about the physical barriers. As mentioned by Epstein (2018) many path-breaking discoveries and inventions have revolutionized communication for the better. Communication in the last 40 years has allowed people to share pictures, texts, voice messages and important documents through their hand held mobile devices over the World Wide Web within few minutes. This helps in saving a lot of cost and time. High quality communication from anytime and anywhere has become more popular over a period of 40 years. From my viewpoint I do not agree with you that communication has become stronger in the last 40 years. People nowadays have electronic communications rather than face-to-face communications and thus do not feel emotionally connected to each other. Communication through electronic media does not justifies emotions and therefore, is not supportive at times when it comes to making decisions about a certain topic unanimously. As opined by Goodman-Deane et al. (2016) verbal communication has decreased a lot. Therefore, it can be said that development in technology has killed the human touch. Relationships and day-to-day interactions now seem to be weaker and lead to lot of arguments disturbing peace and harmony among people.
