In Module 2, we focus on messages by studying textual analysis and, in our writing study, sentence formation. Both of these content areas are essential to understanding how we communicate our message in and outside the classroom.

In our study of writing, we continue our study of the sentence. Where Module 1 went over the basics of effective academic/professional sentences, Module 2 provides detailed notes on good sentence formation. We'll learn about this by consideringsyntax(the order of words in a sentence) and word choice. Have you ever read an email, text message, or other piece of communication and couldn't figure out what exactly the writer was trying to communicate? Chances are syntax and sentence formation were the issue. Our notes on sentences will also help with you Technical Quiz 1.

Textual analysis informs our work with our case study in this module. Introductory notes on textual analysis will show us how words, phrases, and images create messages -- or even contain more information. After reading Chapters 1-7 ofRadium Girls, we'll use textual analysis to discuss how Moore recreates this true story in her book.
