Executive summary
Seven seed roasters, established in 2007 was initially born to roast coffee for Brother Baba Budan which itself was established some years earlier later on the seven seeds developed itself as café-roaster model. They had a simple and core target which was to source directly along with exploring best brewing practices. It’s dedicated roaster and Head quarters was established in 2016. There has been rapid growth in the business since then and thus there demand due to excellence in industry and services have been growing. Still the organization remains rooted in the sustainability principles guiding their decisions. Due to great demands, there has been requirement for expansion and a new office is to be opened in Canberra. The entire process of operation is termed as project operation and to ensure it is not compromised, timely and effective delivery, there is formation of project by the organization. The way project is managed, and the process flow is carried out basically decides the failure or success of a project at the end. Opening a new office is complex project wherein several parties, stakeholders and the uncertainties are associated with it. There are several logistics, risks, required skills sets and variation in expectation that needs to be settled and worked out in positive way to make the project successful (PMI, 2013).
Opening a new office that too which is totally identical with the existing one in terms of operations is full of uncertainties. Thus this project proposal report details out the role of project manager, the framework of project, methodologies as well as analysis that is must have from initiation till the closure of the project. Also, to maintain the efficiency, evaluation is carried at each step throughout the project. Project Overview
Seven seeds Roaster, 2007 took its name from the cargo smuggled from Yemen to India by Baba Budan in the seventeenth century. Baba Budan strapped 7 seeds of fertile coffee to his waist during that while breaking via tight security system to keep cultivation of coffee within the Arabic world confines. Determination of Baba Budan was to spread coffee around world that could enable businesses to import beans from Africa, America and Asia. Serving people since 2007 but year 2018 was a remarkable year where a statement was made to make sure that exceptional coffee cultivation will grow till decades to come. This statement by them exposes the traceability that producers of coffee deserve.
The project is regarding new office opening in Canberra which will be followed by finding suitable location and then establishing and creating new office there. The new office opening is required due to necessity for business expansion and fulfilling customer demands at broader pace. The new office will help in lowering the transport/import/export cost and will fetch numerous new customers. This will determine business to be in profitable mode along with expansion.
The entire project will involve finalizing the suitable location, legal formalities completion, setting up office, moving of furniture, equipments and beautification of place and handing over. In this scenario, project manager must handle the office opening process considering the fact that it must resemble the parent office completely.
Project includes studying existing office, planning, budgeting, selecting the suitable location, setting up office, evaluating new office set up and then finally delivering it. It is expected to complete the assigned project within duration of 6 months and under the assigned budget from the finance team.
