Integrated Assessment 2020 Activity: You will create a scenario that is in your future. It will be a scenario that confronts your “wicked problem - DEPRESSION” using the knowledge that you will have gained through decades of working in the medical sciences. This is a written and visual task that is individually assessed. You should complete the proforma that has been created below. You can hand draw/write or use editing/processing programs as you like. Task: It is the year 2050 and you have lived through a number of advances in modern medicine. Part A: Using the storyboard template (below): - You can use a software called “storyboard that” and create the storyboard there 1. Create a scenario and a character (based on your wicked problem -DEPRESSION) who currently lives in the year 2050 (draw this in box 1 and 2). 2. Introduce the science/technology/idea that is now possible/available/being developed in 2050 (as part of your scenario). This will likely stem from a “gap” in the current literature based on your wicked problem -DEPRESSION (draw in box 3 and 4). 3. Finish with how the implementation has impacted your scenario/character. Is it better or worse (draw in box 5 and 6)? 4. Add a sentence or two under each storyboard to explain/describe the drawn box. Part B: Write a 300-word (max) summary (using the template below) that considers the following. You should remember that technology is NOT perfect. -all in relation to depression a. Consider the implications that this science/technology might have on the world – does it make it better or worse? What risks are there? b. Are there unintended consequences (politics, money, water availability etc.) that might be foreseen/unforeseen? c. Explain how someone in 2050 might adapt if the access to your technology was not equitable, or their access to this technology was removed by forces out of their control. d. How does this change the way that we should think about developing new technology? What additional considerations should there be, outside medical sciences? Part A: Storyboard 6 5 4 3 2 1 4 Part B: Written 300-word summary. References List any references you have used in this assessment below. You may use any referencing style, but please be consistent. In text citations are not included in the word count. Marking Rubric Criteria Standards Does not meet criteria Room for improvement Broadly addresses criteria Meets or exceeds criteria Storyboard You did not include a storyboard with your assessment, or it is totally illegible. You included a storyboard that does not include images, and/or does not describe a problem for the character(s), for which you can design a solution. Your storyboard visually outlines a situation that shows character(s) facing difficulties but does not consider a future design solution. Your storyboard explores a situation that clearly shows how the character(s) face difficulties that can be addressed by a new future design solution. 0 marks 1-2 marks 2-3 marks 3-4 marks Summary No summary is provided in the template provided, or it is totally illegible. PART B
With the development of technology and scientific research, the lifestyle of human beings
has been changed drastically (O’Neill, et al., 2018). Life becomes easier and all the boundaries have got wider with the touch of artificial intelligence and high-speed internet. Technology has made lives fast but in another frame, it also disconnected the relation of an individual with social life. Technology has bound life virtually and people have become lonely from inside. This continual loneliness creates depressions. The extra degree of the intervention of technology into daily lives creates unanticipated as well as unwanted outcomes most of the time. Carl is using wheelo robot to accomplish his work within hours. Apparently it is reducing his effort of working but detaching him from the human contact. Negligible physical efforts create lethargy and excess uses of technology...
