Quality of a Good Leadership
According to me, the good leader is the one who respects all other people in the workplace whether superiors or subordinates. It will help the leader to easily influence the people and make them move in a particular direction to achieve desired results. The leader sets the goal for its team, make plan of achieving it and lastly complete it by achieving the desired results.
Meeting 1 (Including Excerpts from Interviewed Leader)
Me: Have you ever participated in any leadership role in your workplace, community or family?
Leader: “Yes, I have played the role of leader in my workplace.”
Me: Oh, that is nice! What have you exactly done?
Leader: “I have leaded a marketing team in my workplace. It was really an amazing experience working with a group of people.”
Me: What was your leadership philosophy?
Leader: “I believe that I was best suited to inspire my team.”
Me: What was your vision and goal?
Leader: “My goal and vision was to make my team valuable.”
Me: Give a brief about conflict management techniques and suggestions, you adopted while playing the role of a leader.
Leader: “I always stay as a friend with my team. I never exerted pressure on them.”
Me: Which methods did you use for establishing and building trust?
Leader: “I built trust by relying on my team members.”
Me: What methods were used for empowering others?
Leader: “I empowered my employees by believing in them and finding better ways to support their activities.”
Analysis
As per the reply of the interviewed leader, their responsibility was to formulate objectives, tell the team the way, to carry out the activities and marketing strategies, which need to be followed. The leader did believe that he was able to align goals with the company’s mission and vision. He was good in giving instructions to his team and build friendly relationship.
He also contributed the most in achievement of goals. His focus was to teach them all the skills that an effective marketer should possess. His motive was to lead with fairness and integrity. When in case of conflicts, he used to solve them mutually. He always gave preference to his team members and listened to their issues first. Due to being an active listener and cooperator, he also helped in reducing conflicts. He always encouraged and motivated them so that it gave them a sense of belongingness.
Hence, it can be inferred that the technique used in managing conflict is collaborating. As supported by Bond-Barnard, Fletcher and Steyn (2018), it leads to a win-win outcome and strengthens trust. Conflicts hinder the performance of employee’s leading to non-achievement of desired results. For establishing and building trust, he involved them in decision-making process and also brought their suggestions into action. The employees were appraised for their fruitful contribution in the achievement of goals.
A friendly and collaborative relationship was built, which helped in building supportive relationship as well as lessen conflicts. As supported by Basco-Carrera, Warren, van Beek, Jonoski and Giardino (2017), due to this method, all the employees stay united and help each other in times of difficulties. In order to empower the employees,...
