Research Paper Proposal Soci 288 Madison Iceton (3445767) July 22nd 2020 A Social Movement that Never Ends, Women’s suffrage turned into Women’s rights. I chose to research the women’s suffrage movement and how it evolved into the women’s rights movement. The women’s suffrage movement started in the 1840’s and their goal of gaining the right for women to vote was accomplished around 1916. The women’s suffrage movement evolved into the women’s rights movement and is still a movement around today that fights for equal rights. The fight is never ending as there are many goals they strive to achieve, such as the right to birth control and abortion in all countries, equal pay, and equal treatment. It has been a never-ending fight since the 1840’s with many powerful women who continue on and are historically known for the movement. One key component I would be discussing is the way the right to vote came about, and how it was a snowball effect for states and countries to allow this law. Wyoming allowed women the right to vote in 1869, whereas in Canada the provinces took awhile longer, we were fighting for the right up until 1916 which is a huge gap between 1869, and proves that the movement kept going in order to gain women’s rights for as many women possible. This social movement was successful as the ideas were well thought out, and in order to achieve them there was conventions, protests, and of course Rosa Parks. This essay would explain the key events that took place in this movement, and how communication, planning, and the heart of powerful women changed the world. References DuBois, E. C.
