Times New Roman, 12 size font and line spacing (1.5). • This individual written assessment is designed to: – Assist you to develop your knowledge of management and business contexts – Give you the opportunity to enhance skills in research, professional responsibility, and written communication. • All submissions must be uploaded through the Assessment Item 1 link on the unit Moodle page. Email submission to the Unit Coordinator is NOT accepted. • The business case analysis can be uploaded as a pdf or word document. • Penalties for late submission are applied according to the policy. Task description • 1. You must first select ONE of the follow three companies as the subject of your business case – Huawei Enterprise USA, Inc. – Adani Australia – Oxfam Australia • 2. Conduct research on your chosen company in the aspects below, which correspond to week 1-5 topics, with a focus on critically analysing the impact of a range of internal and external contextual factors on the performance and decision making of your chosen organization: a) What is the business structure and governance structure of your chosen company? b) Which environmental factors are influencing your chosen company’s performance and/or decision-making? c) What are the top three risks your chosen company face and how are they influencing its performance and/or decision making? d) What business practices your chosen company adopt and how are they influencing its performance and/or decision making? e) What functional departments does your chosen company have? Introduction * 3 marks Clearly outlines the purpose, scope, structure of the essay. Body—Research efforts and analysis * 12 marks Level of research efforts demonstrated on the chosen company and ability to critically analyse the impact of a range of internal and external contextual factors on the performance and decision making of the chosen company through addressing the five proposed topics: ▪ What is the business structure and governance structure of your chosen company? ▪ Which environmental factors have major impact on your chosen company and how so? ▪ What are the top three risks your chosen company face and how they are/should be managing them? ▪ What business practices your chosen company adopt that are highly effective? ▪ What functional departments does your chosen company have? Criteria 4. Conclusion *3 marks All aspects drawn together in a brief, concise summary. Consistent with findings, no new material introduced but highlights implications or a comment on the future of the company. Criteria 5. Presentation *2 marks High quality of expression, grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading. Criteria 6. Referencing * 2 marks Inclusion of an accurate reference list on a separate page listing only the sources that actually have been used. The reference list is arranged in alphabetical order according to the authors’ last names. At least 5 academic references post 2009 have been used, together with a numerous number of non-academic references. Meaning of words • Contextual factors: are characteristics of the internal and external environment; such as structure, functions, environmental forces, risks, etc. • Key terms: words that are being used in this unit such as sole trader, structure, SWOT analysis, benchmarking etc. • Concept: this is an abstract idea that someone has named and defined. For example, the concept of employee engagement is defined as the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are committed to the organisation, and put discretionary effort into their work. It has a cognitive, affective, and behavioural component. • Theory: is a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something. For example, increasing employee engagement will increase performance, customer satisfaction, profitability and productivity, and reduce employee turnover. Meaning of words • APA referencing system: you must only use this referencing system in the body of the essay and in the reference list at the end. Ensure you familiarise yourself with it! Appropriate writing conventions • Must be within the word limit (first word of introduction to last word of the conclusion). • Write in paragraph form with full sentences. A paragraph is more than one sentence. • Introduce a new topic in a new paragraph, don’t write overly long paragraphs. • Make the first or last sentence the topic sentence of the paragraph. • Write using formal academic language and specific Management and Business Context words, theories, concepts and terms. • Avoid using casual conversational language. For example, instead of writing “it’s a good idea to think about . . .” write “an important consideration is . . ” • Write in the third person not using “I”, “we”, “one”, “he/she”. 9 Plagiarism • Plagiarism is the intentional use of someone else’s ideas, words or concepts in your assignment without appropriate acknowledgment. It is considered serious misconduct at university and should be avoided at all times. • Committing plagiarism can carry very serious penalties for students, including expulsion from the university. • Past penalties include zero marks or a reduction of marks for an assignment. Management is the administration of the business organisations or the administrative head of any organisation. In that context, it can be mentioned that in order to operate the effective business operations with the successful format there is a requirement of the involvement of management in business. Huawei Enterprise is one of the technology companies in the USA. The company is providing telecommunication equipment and electronic goods to its customers. The headquarters of the company is situated in Shenzhen in the context of China. The services that the company is offering to their customers includes mobile and fixed board networks, consultancy and management services. Therefore, it can be said that the company also provides the multimedia technology services to its customers (Ahmed, 2019). The amount of earning revenue of Huawei enterprise is approximately CN721.202 billion. According to the reports, it is observed that in recent years the company is earning U$ 105.191 billion through their business operations.
Business Structure and Governance Structure of Huawei Enterprise
The business structure of Huawei Enterprise is not limited in the context of China and in that respect; they are expanding their business operations in the international market. Based on the overview of the market of the USA, it is observed that the company is selling different products to their customers and offering various services to potential customers. The company offers Dongles, Tablets and smart phones to the customers. Therefore, the company has its research, development centres on the world, and those centres are helping in the development of the overall business of the company (Liu et al., 2017). Huawei is developing its business operations through its services and products in more than 170 countries all over the world. The reports show that the company is reaching one-third of the population of the entire world based on their telecommunication services.
The governance structure of Huawei Enterprise is divided into different sectors are such as the human resource department, finance department, strategy marketing department and corporate development department. Thus, the human resource department of the company is holding the top place within the governance structure of Huawei Enterprise USA. The HR department is looking after the corporate leadership and management of all the activities of the company. On the other hand, the finance department is responsible for the audits of the company and the finance department (Xu et al., 2017) does the overall financial calculations. Therefore, the strategy-marketing department is helping in the adoption and involvement of the strategies within the marketing of the company to acquire the highest position in the existing business market. Furthermore, the corporate development department is serving a clear analysis of the corporate duties that the company should perform in case of operating its business within the context of the USA.
