Normally, tutorial classes are conducted in the computer laboratories. o Students are expected to attend classes with the requisite textbook and must read specific chapters prior to each tutorial. This will allow them to actively take part in discussions. Students should have elementary skills in both word processing and electronic spreadsheet software, such as Office 365 or MS Office. o Computers and WIFI facilities are extensively available for student use throughout KOI. Resource requirements specific to this subject: ASP.NET, Office 365, MS Imagine, Visual Studio, MS Azure. 2 Academic Details 2.1 Overview of the Subject This subject focuses on web design and development. ASP.NET is a web application framework developed by Microsoft that allows developers to build dynamic web sites, web applications and XML web services. ASP.NET can be used to create anything from small, personal websites through to large, enterprise-class web applications. Students will apply their skills in creating a complex web-site structure; using naming conventions; manipulating images for the internet; writing basic web pages using tables and divs; providing navigation; creating interactive, functioning web sites. Students must include more complex features of HTML5 (e.g. canvas). Students will use jQuery Mobile development framework and ASP.NET for all site development and integrate jQuery Mobile into Web Forms, to construct browser-friendly output from the server for mobile devices. 2.2 Graduate Attributes for Undergraduate Courses Graduates of Bachelor courses from King’s Own Institute (KOI) will achieve the graduate attributes expected under the Australian Qualifications Framework (2nd edition, January 2013).
