Use these instructions as a guide to ensure you demonstrate the required knowledge. SCENARIO DataTrust You have been employed as a WHS Manager to review WHS processes at DataTrust head office in Sydney, this is a new role and you will report directly to Mark Swift. You are one of the two managers on the Health and Safety Committee. The key issue with the WHS Management System (MS) is that there are no clear directives as to how to report WHS issues. You are required to adapt the existing WHSMS to include clear lines of reporting and establish any new roles required to enable this to occur (your project brief includes the recruitment of a WHS Consultant to work with you in implementing these new processes across all areas of the organisation). To complete this part of the assessment, the student will be required to adapt the existing WHSMS documents found online at ‘DataTrust’ based on the scenario and simulated workplace provided. Students need to use the ‘Track Changes’ feature of their word processing software to be able to show the assessor the changes made to each document. Product Description: Part 1: Establish a WHS management system (WHSMS) in a work area Task 1 - Instructions 1. You will need to review the Data Trust WHSMS document and any relevant associated forms/policies to include the new WHS Structure described above. You need to adapt the Data Trust WHS policy documents and forms to reflect this structural change. Word versions of PDF documents available on Data Trust intranet have been included in BSBWHS501_AE_Pro_2of2_SR1 (available from your assessor or Moodle) for you to adapt (remember to use the Track Changes Feature in Word to show your assessor what has changed). 2. Ensure you identify the duty holders and define WHS responsibilities for all workplace personnel in your adapted WHSMS. You will need to pay particular attention to the responsibilities for your role and the new role (WHS Consultant) being recruited. 3. You need to document the creation of the WHS Consultant role (the budget for this has already been approved so does not need to be included) and any extra budget required to implement the revised system across the organisation. Provide evidence of this by sending a confirmation email to the CIO, Mark Thrift outlining these costs and advising that you have approved the recruitment of the WHS Consultant role. Assessment Checklist The following checklist will be used by your assessor to mark your performance against the assessment criteria of your submitted task. Use this checklist to understand what skills and/or knowledge you need to demonstrate in your submission/presentation. All the criteria described in the Assessment Checklist must be met. The assessor may ask questions while the submission/presentation is taking place or if appropriate directly after the task/activity has been submitted/completed. WHS Consultation meeting (Oral group discussion) You need to provide evidence of the following in your consultation with others. Date of Observation: Assessors are to record their observations in sufficient detail to demonstrate their judgement of the student’s performance against the criteria. A. Student located existing WHS policies and adapted them to suit the new Organisational Chart B. Student identified duty holders and defined responsibilities C. Student emailed CIO a copy of budget and approval for resources Task 2 - WHS meeting (oral group discussion) You need to meet with Mark Swift and Holly Simone (your assessor will arrange people to play these roles or you can arrange it with your class mates and provide a recording to your assessor) and provide a verbal summary of the changes outlined in Task 1. You need to seek their feedback prior to rolling the changes out across the organisation. Your assessor will observe this discussion and record their observations in checklist below. Use this Checklist to understand what skills you need to demonstrate in the practical task demonstration. The Checklist outlines the assessment criteria used to determine whether you have successfully completed this assessment event. All the criteria must be met.
