As you complete your coursework and move into the doctorate research phase of your journey, you are certain to become engrossed in your topic as you grow and become a true “expert” in your area. While you are researching your topic, and certainly as a doctorate program graduate, staying current in your field is vital.
Research and list a minimum of three professional organizations, journals, or groups that would be beneficial for you to join. What are the personal benefits to you to join these groups? Are there opportunities to attend or present at conferences, publish in journals, receive newsletters or updates in the field, etc.? List each of the organizations, the purpose of the organization, and the activities in which you would like to participate. Many organizations provide student rates for membership and conference attendance. Be sure to see if your selected organizations offer this. Share why you have selected the ones you chose and how this will be beneficial.
