InstructionsPurpose In this project, you will understand the importance of the control function in a manufacturing business. You will compare actual performance with desired production standards, measure progress toward company goals, and address deviations in performance through corrective action.Outcome Met by Completing This Assignment· Develop measures and assess outcomes against plans and standards to improve organizational effectiveness. How to Set Up the Paper· Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced using 12-point font.  The final product will be 5 pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages.   · Create a title page with a title, date, course number and section, your name, and the instructor's name.ScenarioThe following chart displays the results of the first year’s production of the, Lacks Tracks Cycles, an electric-powered chopper-style motorcycle produced by Lacks Tracks Cycles to compete with Harley-Davidson's Electra Glide. The metrics table below was created from data supplied by Lacks Tracks Cycles five (5) plants. The purpose of the table is to provide data for management to decide what controls and actions are needed to increase production efficiency.   You recently joined the Lacks Tracks Cycles' headquarters staff as a quality assurance associate. Your manager has requested you to analyze the first year's motorcycle production results.  This information will be used by management to evaluate and improve overall production efficiency.Lacks Tracks Cycles is known for producing high-quality products at reasonable prices. They plan to compete against Harley's top-end model by developing superior production efficiency that will allow them to price significantly below Harley Davidson's Electra Glide model.   The chart below lists the desired production standards and the actual production metrics for each stage of the electric motorcycle's manufacturing process that must be completed to determine the overall production efficiency at each of Lacks Tracks Cycles' five (5) production facilities.A comparison of the production standard to the actual production outcomes using all the relevant metrics allows management to determine which of its facilities is the most efficient producer of the electric motorcycle. This knowledge will help Lacks Tracks Cycles' management team to determine what controls need to be put into place at their various production plants to match the production efficiency of their most efficient plant. More efficiency means higher production at lower per unit (cycle) costs. Use only the BOLDED centered and left-justified headings to write your paper.                                                                         Introduction· Write an Introduction paragraph. The introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will describe to the reader the intent of the paper, explaining the main points covered in the paper.  This intent should be understood before reading the remainder of the paper so the reader knows exactly what is being covered in the paper. The introduction is often written after the paper is completed. Paraphrase means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document. Removing quotation marks and citing is inappropriate. Instead, put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document. There should be no passages with quotation marks.  Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks. Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks. If more than four consecutive words are used from source documents, this material will not be included in the grade.   You are expected to use the research course materials to develop the basis for your analysis and support your reasoning. There should be a robust use of the course material. The material used from a source document must be cited and referenced. A reference can only be included in your Reference list if used for an in-text citation.     Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation. You may not use books in completing this problem set unless they are part of the course material. Also, you cannot use as references a dictionary, Wikipedia, Investopedia, or similar sources. Provide the page or paragraph number in every in-text citation. Company Lacks Tracks Cycles manufactures electric-powered moto
ikes in chopper-style as a significant element of the strategic plan. This form important part of the organization's target to compete with Electra Glide electric-powered motorcycle of Harley-Davidson (Control in the Business Setting., 2012). With reference to the performance of the company Lack Tack Cycle, the
business is successful at manufacturing high-quality products at an affordable price since they have utilised the conceptual framework that strategizes actions like planning, leading, organizing as well as controlling while creating and implementing long-term strategic goals. By the virtue of this report, I have performed extensive analysis on the company Lacks Tracks Cycles and analysed the importance of controlling function in the business. Furthermore, comparing the standard production standard metrics against the actual production metrics from the Lacks Track's five production plants. This will identify variations in the standards that includes co
ective types of control in order to rectify the variances from the given standards. Overall purpose of Lack Tracks Cycle is to continue to be successful in their actions by examining the business controls to maximize the efficiency in production. This can devise co
ective actions which is needed to achieve the organization objectives (Control in the Business Setting., 2012).
Standard Definition of Control - One of the critical management processes is controlling that tracks every process and activities based defined parameters. Overall control function enables the management that helps to comprehend planned outcome from the team leaders, subordinates, managers as well as level of anu organization (Control in the Business Setting., 2012). Essentially, controlling function enables to measure the overall progress towards the organization goals that can
ing deviations and indicate co
ective actions. Therefore, control function recommends the business what activities working and what aren’t working. Identifying what are the strengths and weakness such that strengths can be boosted and weakness can be converted into area of improvements. Control is a business establishment which explains controlling the activities of organisation, personal as well as systematic processes to attain the objectives that could minimise mistakes (Control., 2012). There are numerous styes of control that can be implemented in organization. One of the widely used control methodology is top-down control. With this control approach, there are high-level executives and senior management that who make crucial decisions. These decisions are passed as information to the ground level employees. Technically, the controlling aspects comprises of five fundamental steps like analysing the actual performance, establishing performance standards, comparing the actual performance with standard targets who analyse the deviations to co
ect the actions. Establishing performance metrics can be in the form of increasing revenues, target sales, enhancing production as well as minimise the expense overhead. Underlying essence of establishing the performance standards is that they need to measurable, realistic and clear (Control., 2012). Once the performance standards have be developed, it is critical to evaluate the performance by maintaining the data with respect to actual performance. Contrasting the performance with respect to planned standard it is essential for the organisation to comprehend if they are meeting the required guidelines. The fourth and most important control is to identify and comprehend the deviations. It is essential for an organization to comprehend why the actual performance on the ground varies from the standard performance. Specifically, this a phase in which control procedures are streamlined at the ground levels. The cumulative step is to implement strategies to control various process and address which is the reason for not meeting required standards (Controls, Quality Management., 2012).
Significance of Metrics in company Lack Tracks Production
Lacks Tracks Cycles that have developed a strong reputation in automotive industry especially for high-quality moto
ikes. One of the critical reasons of success is the application of overall control process. The company is planning to expand their business with electric-powered motorcycle which has a niche chopper style (Controls, Quality Management., 2012). It is a strong competition to Harley Davidson and product has the potential to capture a massive market share. Lacks Track needs to comprehend the relevance of the overall control process since company is in production for at least one year. This also recognizes the value of measuring performance of their plants against the given standard in order to set strategic objectives. Essentially, objective of developing the performance standard is to have a strong capability to evaluate actual performance vis-a-vis expected milestones. These metrices can offer strong insights if any process can be revised or modified. Thus, for Lack Tracks survive the test of time and thrive in this competitive market needs to develop performance metrices that are adhered stringently (Laws Affecting Human Resource Practices, Workplace Safety., 2012).
Standard Specifications
A well-thought and strategic plan can be established in the place as well as translated into different performance standards. Essentially, there can be 11 performance metrices that can serve as guiding principles for each plant to attain the results for electric-powered motorcycles. With reference to the case, manufacturing units for Lacks Tracks are...
