Many hospitality facilities derive a significant part of their revenue from event planning and management. Such events include business meetings and conventions, both those held on site and as well as events held at a close enough proximity.
Create an event, either on-site or one in close proximity, and in a 1,000-1,250 words, describe how a hotel facility of your choice would take advantage of the opportunity to generate revenue by offering activities and special accommodations concurrent with the event. You will need to adequately research the city in which the hotel is located, the target audience, and the hotel capacity in regard to hosting event. In your paper, discuss the following factors:
- Is the event to take place at your facility or is your facility taking advantage of some other larger venue in close proximity to your facility?
- What special event accommodations or resources (rooms, large halls, etc.) would you offer?
- What transportation and occupancy accommodations need to be made?
- What dining/food catering options would you offer?
- What kind of staffing and security arrangements would need to be made?
- What is the anticipated budget for this event and how can the spending be justified to the hotel executives? What is the expected return on investment with this event?
- What other considerations might you consider?
Next, create a handout, flyer, pamphlet, or a deliverable that you would use to promote your facility to the event patrons or potential guests. Submit this portion of your assignment in Microsoft Word or as a PDF.
