  • Based on your readings for the course and the discussions for previous weeks, select two to three alternative learning theories or instructional design models and evaluate how they would alter your overall approach to addressing an eLearning proposal.


Using Gilbert’s Behavior Engineering Model to evaluate my overall approach to addressing an eLearning proposal would entail conducting an analysis on factors related to performance issues (Rechey et al, 2011). Looking at stress amongst students for eLearning would entail questionnaires that would be concerning the causes of stress as well as the influence of the school environment. The strength of Gilbert’s model is that it provides a comprehensive framework to identify possible underlying causes of performance issues as well as examining both the individual and environmental influences that have an impact on performance (Wooderson et al, 2017). Therefore, a more in-depth analysis would be provided for an eLearning proposal on student stress with Gilbert’s Behavior Engineering Model.


Examing the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model would utilize a series of steps for examining student stress with an eLearning approach. Constancio et al (2018) describes using analysis, drawing, development, implementation, pilot execution, and evaluation for a roadmap for using ADDIE. This design would allow for a more organized plan to follow. For the eLearning plan a demand and analysis would be prepared followed by the proposal and schedule with review and implementation to follow with the pilot and finally preparation for study to follow (Constancio et al, 2018). For studying student stress this would allow for a good plan to follow with step-by-step evaluation to ensure that a valid eLearning plan was created.

The training for Benefits Program Specialist is eLearning. Everything about learning what you need to do will be computer-based, stemming from PowerPoint presentations and data entry using fake client files (this is used a lot). Now Kemp’s Instructional Design Model looks as though it would be a good fit for eLearning. There are eight steps to the design, but one thing that caught me was “Design instructional strategies so that each learner can master the objectives” (IDC, 2020). This eLearning program will be used with all new hires, so if that point cannot get across to everyone, we will need to look at a different way of mastering the objective. The Design Thinking model is an iterative design process, where they test out the ideas and a solution-based approach to solving problems. “George Siemens and Stephen Downes (Siemans & Downes, 2009) developed a digital age theory called connective. Connectivism is characterized as a reflection of our society that is changing rapidly. Society is more complex, connected socially, global, and mediated by increasing advancements in technology. It is the orchestration of complex disarray of ideas, networked to form specific information sets” (Duke et al., 2013). Connectivism fits perfectly with the State and all its changing policies, every new and seasoned employee will need to join a webinar to get the latest changes.

Hi Maria,
I agree with the behavioral engineering model that you tend to highlight here. I perceive that stress is one of the major components that affect the overall performances of the students; stress appears to be in the form of eLearning were one has to be positively engaged in multiple dimensions of studies. At the same time, the environmental factors of learning that source from the school premises also contribute to the process of learning.
Every system has its own pros as well as cons and e-learning goes through the same conceptual framework. The ADIE model that you propose to conduct further research is...
