Was it self-defence or murder— that is how baffling the Michael Brown case might have seemed to those who had witnessed or learnt about it? What happened on August 9th, 2014 in Fergusson, Missouri, was pathetic to most but ambiguous in its unfolding and outcome. The death of 18-year-old African-American man Michael Brown, after being shot by one (white) Fergusson police officer Darren Wilson, created controversy lasting long after the incident, causing criticism from national and international agencies.
Cause
Towards midday of August 9th, Micheal Brown was seen stealing and shoving a market clerk along with his friend Dorian Johnson. At this point, the dispatcher reported the incident and described the perpetrator as being a black male with specific identifiers. Wilson, who was attending another issue a few blocks away, came into the picture after receiving another dispatcher notice.
